D&D 5E Final Boss (tm) for a level 11 campaign.

Thanks :) It's hard to believe that, in practice, Legendary actions & Legendary resistance do not make the monster more dangerous. If we take a look at both the Goristro demon and the Adult Red dragon (CR17) they seems balanced before taking into consideration the Legendary features. Precisely...

D&D 5E Final Boss (tm) for a level 11 campaign.

Thanks guys for the answers :) Actually my question is more about the "Legendary C17 monster" and less about the "Adult Red Dragon" : i could have ask the same question about the Androsphinx, for example. Is (CR17+Legendary) well balanced enough for a perfect climax (against 4 level 11 PC) ?

D&D 5E Final Boss (tm) for a level 11 campaign.

Hi guys ! From your play experience, is an Adult Red Dragon (CR 17 Legendary monster) strong enough to fight all alone against a solid (but not optimized) party of 4 level 11 PC et provide a fun and challenging experience ? If it's not, wich (CR + Legendary) combinaison would be better suited ...

    Pathfinder Beginner Box Review

The strenght of the 5e Starter set is the quality of the module. The 5e Essentials kit is, by far, a more complete/sexy product than the 5e Starter set (with GM's screen, conditions card and stuff like that) but if i had to choose* i will pick the 5e Starter set anytime. Because LMoP is that...

D&D General What editions of Dungeons & Dragons do you like?

I answered D&D 3.5, D&D 4, D&D 5 and other (thinking about Basic D&D) D&D 3.5 because of E6, D&D 4 because of the cosmology and the game design experiments. D&D 5 et BD&D because it's, from my POV, the two best editions of D&D ever. My feeling is we're living the golden age of D&D because...

    D&D 5E Static DCs

Hi ! I'm a french player and game designer, my OSR/DIY minimalist D&D game Coureurs d'Orages ("Storm Runners") use DC 16 as the universal DC (that's why we choosed the esoteric tarot's major arcana number 16, the tower, for the cover of the core rulebook). If the test must be more difficult, on...

D&D 5E It's official, WOTC hates Rangers (Tasha's version of Favored Foe is GARBAGE)

I must admit i don't really care about Tiers 3 & 4 : from my point of view 5e is a perfect game when campaigns end around level 9 or, eventually, level 11. And if you really want your Thief or Scout to feel like a magical wanderer there's good stuff to do with Magic initiate (Druid) or Ritual...

D&D 5E It's official, WOTC hates Rangers (Tasha's version of Favored Foe is GARBAGE)

With the Outlander feature the PC can provide food to the entire party without any skill check. As a Thief he can climb faster than anyone on trees or cliffs. As a Healer Thief he can gives back a substancial amount of HP in and out of combat (the hands of the king can heal !). Thoses gifts are...

D&D 5E It's official, WOTC hates Rangers (Tasha's version of Favored Foe is GARBAGE)

From my point of view a Rogue (Thief) Outlander with the Healer feat is totally decent Ranger.

D&D 5E Fictional examples of Rangers

Very interesting ! I strongly suggest to take a look at the movie the Hunted from 2003 Even more than J. Rambo in First Blood, L.T. Bonham is the archetypal Ranger in a "real world setting".

D&D 5E The simplest and most effectiv 3 PC team

    If i'm correct : a Level 1 Bard knows 2 cantrips & 4 spells a level 1 Cleric (with +3 WIS and a fixed list of spells) knows 3 cantrips, 4 spells & 2 domain spells a Level 9 Valor Bard knows 3 cantrips & 12 spells a level 9 Cleric (with +5 WIS and a fixed list of spells) knows 4 cantrips, 14...

D&D 5E The simplest and most effectiv 3 PC team

Indeed. I do no want to tweak the rules. And even with a fixed "prepared spells" list i'm quite sure the Life Cleric needs more reading and understanding of spells than the Valor Bard.

D&D 5E The simplest and most effectiv 3 PC team

Some feats are dead simple (Tough, Resilient, Prodigy...). Variant human is ok i think, with one of them. You're not the first one to suggest this team. I will seriously think about it. :D

D&D 5E The simplest and most effectiv 3 PC team

So... Wich one ? :D (Yeah... I'm not really sold on the Life Cleric) Yeah, they will be variant humans. A least i can use the Prodigy feat to give an aera of expertise to every PC and still keep it really simple. (?)

D&D 5E The simplest and most effectiv 3 PC team

Do you really think Life Cleric is simpler than Lore Bard ? A Lot of spells to read. Very interesting ! Do you have suggestions for the bard known spells ? I'm looking for a very classic fantasy mood, so no living constructs ^^ Do you really think Paladin is simpler than Champion Fighter ?

D&D 5E The simplest and most effectiv 3 PC team

Hi guys. I will soon start a campaign with 3 players, full beginners from a TRPG point of view. So i want to start eeaaasy with the rules and the roll-playing, using pré-gen characters. From your perspectiv what is the simplest and most effectiv team for 3 players ? The simplicity aspect is...
