    D20 Apocalypse Designers - Q&A Here

Personally found them very disappointing as a whole. I felt the $40 I paid for the whole series (a year ago maybe? Not sure) was about $30 too much for those 100s of pages. I ended up giving them away - and had to work at it to get someone to take them. He took them because he thought he...

    D20 Sci-Fi

I recomment at least evaluating Blood and Space, the D20Modern/Future supplements from RPG Objects. (The setting info is at http://www.rpgobjects.com/index.php?page=pro&product_id=59) Not saying it will fill your needs, but it worked really well for me (for the brief time I was in a sci-fi...

    D20 Apocalypse Designers - Q&A Here

"Creep" is Redline, in the HOrizon line from FFG I think. DW2 (the D20Modern version) is imho well worth checking out. In DW2, there is radiation and contamination, treated separately. And, while radiation is also incident-based (rather than cumulative), it is otherwise pretty well done, and...

    D20 Apocalypse Designers - Q&A Here

I LOVE the PA genre. I am a Darwin's World II fanboy (did I just say that? Wow! I'm finally a fanboy of something!). I can't tell you how relieved I am to hear that the goal of making D20A complementary instead of competitive is realized. (Although I always thought it would be hard to compete...

    True20 Adventure Roleplaying Game

I take a great delight in seeing GR change its mind. There were some fanatics who aggressively quashed anything resembling conversation over at the Blue Rose forums (as if publishing the rules separately had any bearing on their enjoyment of the BR setting... sigh). Some of that posturing...

What level of house rules are you comfortable with?

This is my max level of house rules comfort. Anything much more than that and I'll find another game or group. I usually find that major house rules fix what ain't broke, or break further what was only marginal to begin with. Rarely do major house rules (in my experience) add much to the game...

    Dark Sun + Dune + Tattooine + Darwin's World

Darwin's World is not tongue in cheek. This is Joshua's bias peeking through. My own bias is to like it for being Fallout as Fallout should have been done (that's fact, not my opinion :) ). There's a ton of material to loot liberally beyond the 20 pages out of the 380 page book that happen to...

    Downtime?

I agree. In my games, unless I get ambushed by the players, all downtime is done between sessions. I encourage the players to come up with descriptions as detailed as they like of what happened during that time, including new NPCs, rumors etc. But the shopping is done off-camera.

    Dark Sun + Dune + Tattooine + Darwin's World

Darwin's World has the scavenging/repair rules and technology levels you'd need, plus some wicked-cool psionics (could be tweaked for the power words of the book Dune, too). I would mostly use those parts. The monsters in DW are almost all appropriate too, being mostly a desert setting. Dark...

    making firearms more deadly (deadlier?)

Being shot while wearing body armor and "not feeling it" has more to do with adrenaline than the armor, I'm told. It was explained this way to me: The reason it doesn't hurt like hell to fire the gun is complicated, but has to do with force control (the weapon itself directs the majority of the...

    *

I dig it. Totally impossible for any normal mook to just live with his leg blown off. I mean, what kind of normal guy survives getting shot by REAL ULTIMATE POWER guns? Guns are deadly - WAY more deadly than getting stabbed with a puny little greatsword. And wounds are anomalies anyway -...

Of Fey and Shadow - A Midnight story hour (Restored 14 May 2006)

With a new baby, turning the game into a story hour has taken a back seat :) I have all the notes, and I suspect I'll be able to devote time to it shortly. This story hour is definitely a priority for me, so no worries about that. I have a ton of stuff to write up, just waiting for me to get...

What's with all the new folks?

I don't believe I've ever been intimidated by a post count. A high postcount either means they are on a community project (no problem there), play by post games (again, no problem there), or they talk alot (in which case they are Crothian, heh). So, it's either no problem or it's Crothian :)...

I used to play on Crucible City MUX, a Mutants & Masterminds mu*. It's the only one I every played, and I'm not currently playing. Too time intensive.

Does D20 Future make D20 Modern too feat-heavy?

I never have enough feat slots to get everything I want, but it's not too bad. Advanced Classes are really where its at for specializing in something, in lieu of more feats.
