So we got the sheets, let's calculate the crunch!!

Humans have got a wisdom bonus? :\ How dumb are the other races, if humanity is above average? :uhoh:

[Exploits] Ranger Daily: Split the Tree

Arrows aren't, as I understand it, so perishable that they have to be freshly prepared every day. It sounds very much like a complaint about low level characters having quasi-magical abilities to me. If it wasn't, and, since I'm currently too low level to read peoples minds, it may not have...

Camping: It does a body good!

All combat is illusory, and all damage is purely psychosomatic. A good nights sleep cures your mind of the trauma, and leaves you refreshed and ready to face a new day.

[Exploits] Ranger Daily: Split the Tree

There's a long way between "wet-behind-the-ears" and "brilliant master". Of course even a starting hero should be more than competent in his occupation, but that's a long way from being able to pull this sort of thing off. After all, he's got to have some new, presumably better, tricks to...

[Exploits] Ranger Daily: Split the Tree

Minimum Greater Manyshot level = 6 Minimum Split the Tree level = 1 The same thing goes for those bringing up star footballers, Legolas and Beckham. None of those guys are 1st level. Has anyone ever claimed that 3.5e falling damage was a good rule? It's actually daily rather than...

Classes ... Much Less Flexible than Advertised

But the party is supposed to be able to use a Ranger as it's striker, so Thievery can't be a necessary skill to the party unless it's also required of the Ranger, which would be silly. Diplomats should really have Bluff, Sense Motive and Intimidate in addition to diplomacy, while things like...

    Ampersand: Sneak Attack

Just because you have some, necessary, abstraction, doesn't mean that realism or verisimilitude should be just chucked out as worthless. This is the sort of argument that makes the slippery slope argument not a fallacy. Anyway, HP and AC are established parts of DnD, and no longer worth...

    Dragon Editorial: Fearless

Removing the roll one and die, and reducing the fragility of level one characters, is, by and large, good. Though I do think that the occasional BBEG or special monster with save or die can be interesting, if handled correctly Most of the rest appears bad. Genuinely stupid mistakes should be...

    Turn Undead should be removed!

It shouldn't be a problem if it's simply turned into a per encounter Power which scares or weakens the undead. Would be nice if clerics who didn't care about the undead all that much could choose something else, though.

Paladin should kill the Warlord and take his stuff!

Generals operate on a completely different scale. They don't tell their soldiers where to stab, except in very broad terms. If combat is so narrow and easy to master a field, what are all these classes doing? I assume the Warlord doesn't spend his time just looking after the Fighter. The...

Paladin should kill the Warlord and take his stuff!

The bard is better, firstly because he operates through encouragement rather than instruction and secondly because what he does is less intrusive - he's basically giving me a plus to do what I want with it, not taking command of my character. No venom, just forceful argument No, that's...

Paladin should kill the Warlord and take his stuff!

If my character wanted to be ordered around, why didn't he join the army? This character isn't any more experienced than mine, so why should I be listening to him? Just because the game system annoints him leader, doesn't make it so. I think it encourages good, or at least decent, players to...

Paladin should kill the Warlord and take his stuff!

So the fighter can only go "Urrr Thog smaaAASSHHH" and strike where he is told? Having dedicated himself to combat, he has no conception of tactics and no ability to spot enemy weaknesses. The ranger may be able to thread a needle with an arrow at 500 paces, but he's certainly not capable of...

Paladin should kill the Warlord and take his stuff!

He's telling them what to do, and they're obeying. Yup, sound's like a commander and his subordinates to me. All that's saying is that not only is the warlord in charge, but that the others don't even know how to competently carry out their roles. The warlord, who, let's not forget, probably...

Paladin should kill the Warlord and take his stuff!

So basically the warlords great, as long as you don't do any roleplaying? Whatever you're doing OOC, IC it still amounts to the warlord being the boss, and the rest thus his subordinates.

Paladin should kill the Warlord and take his stuff!

The Warlord's basically a Fighter doing Clericy stuff so that people can choose not to play the Cleric. It doesn't make a huge amount of sense to me, but making sense seems to be even less of a priority in this edition than in previous edition. Making sense probably isn't very cool.

Large red dragon mini with only 5 fire resist...

As long as the dragon can't kill itself by incautious sneezing, I don't mind. Fire Elementals on the other hand, really should be fire immune IMO.

Wizards still cast Enchantment, Illusions, Necromancy

Sure. I just don't see why we should collude in their attempts to take more of our cash. If we're going to accept things published in subsequent books as a panacea for any weaknesses in the core books, then we might as well all just write WotC a blank check and be done with it.

Wizards still cast Enchantment, Illusions, Necromancy

So long as you plan on buying lots of splat books, perhaps. If you don't, then only getting 1/6th of the full Wizard class in the core books might be a concern

Which monsters do you think will be in MM1?

Probably lots of fey, since they seem to be played up a lot more in this edition.
