Should I allow the Spell Compendium in my campaign?

The Spell Compendium, in my opinion as a player and not a DM, is best used as a way to add flavor or themed spells for a particular character. No player should ever be allowed to pick and choose from it without input from the DM, or use it entirely as desired. But it is an awesome book for...

    OotS 477 is up!

So, Rich coming straight out and saying Belkar is evil means... nothing to you? I think Belkar is the perfect depiction of PC CE, as filtered through a classic "chaotic stupid" player. It seems to me the player, as depicted by the strip artist who flat-out says Belkar is evil, intends for...

Sick of my old crap laying around, what to do with it?

Gotta plug Noble Knight Games. They give a very fair trade value, and are darned nice people to boot. I've been trading 3.x stuff for minis and old school books, and find it's worthwhile.

What do you carry your stuff in when going to a game?

Other. A small leather binder, and a little utility pack with dice, pencils and a portable hard drive. Yes. It's a utility pack. If it's not on my fanny, it's not a fanny pack.

    C&C - Maybe A Dumb Question but . . .

Troll Lord. The third printing of the core book just came out. It's been scarce for quite a while now. The adventures have been coming out rather steadily though.

Wizards of the Coast/Kenzer & Company License Agreements Expiring

This is a bummer. Played Hackmaster for the first time this year. But if this means that you're going to have to throw all your money into Aces & Eights, then *sigh* I guess I'll just have to learn to live with that. ;)

    Buzz on Aces and Eights?

Oh man, I bought this book today. It's been sitting here for a couple of hours, awaiting me. My DM, Will, just called me, and broke me away from forumiting for a moment, and while we yakked I cracked it open. Oh yes. Cracked. New book smell. Something I usually don't expect from RPG books. Will...

    New D&D Spinner Rack

I've seen the rack at Barnes & Noble, and at a local book chain. The local book chain [a full service bookstore], uses it to stock only WotC new releases, and has since removed all back catalog and all third party publishers. When they got the rack, they wiped out the old RPG section. The B&N...

    Complicated maps

Those look remarkably like maps from the B series modules. Quasqueton and The Caves of Chaos. [Edit - Looks like someone types a lot faster than me.]

    Looking for players or group

You might want to search through the old posts in this forum. I recall seeing some other folks from Oxford post in the past. Yeah, sorry, you'll probably have to search manually. Plenty of players, but not that many games, up here in Memphis. I've actually known folks to drive in from your...

Free RPG Day is fast approaching, is your FLGS participating?

Two game shops here. Neither participated. Bleh.

    NKL/NTL dinner/Chtulhu

You need an invite to join now the forum. Sadly, I have none. Ask around some of the other regulars. Invites aren't hard to come by, but they are randomly issued. Then, you should be able to find out about GenCon to your hearts content. Assuming that's what you want to know about.

S.M.Stirling's "Dies the Fire" Trilogy (cool new map)

Awesome! I really enjoyed the "Islands" series, but "Dies in the Fire" blows it away. Yeah, there is an initial gut-check moment when you have to wrap your head around the SCA ruling PA Oregon, and the hippy dippy schtick can wear thin, but I still loved it dearly. Another player in my group...

How thick does plexiglass/acrylic need to be?

Sounds like you could use some Transparent Aluminum. That's the ticket, laddie.

    Custom character sheets

After years and years of using HeroForge, for my latest character I typed everything up in a single page using Word. Spellcaster even. Druid, with two animal companions. I feel like I am suddenly free.

OOTS 450 - Wands are for Suckers

Man, I do appreciate that. I have been trying to get in all day, except for while I was at work, with no success. But you do know, that will get deleted. Days like this make me wish the Playground forum was separate from the OotS page. I'd at least like to lurk their discussion. Never have...

Turnabout Is Fair Play - Female Gamers

Every single group I have played with, no exceptions, has had at least one female gamer. The group I am currently in is split 50/50, plus the DM. Not sure where the stereotypes come from, because I have played for over twenty years and never have played in an all male group.

Why I don't support my LGS

Retailers have lives, too. He gave you plenty of warning. It's quite possible he had somewhere he needed to be.

Pathfinder 1E Paizo no longer publishing Dungeon and Dragon

Maybe this is a sign. A sign that I should start buying KotDT instead of browsing it at the shops.

    Pirates of the Frozen North

Beware of doing business with that fellow. I've had the misfortune of dealing with him before, going all the way back to 2000. If you want to see what he's like for yourself, do a quick Google. hth
