It is October, let's talk about the supernatural.

Most supernatural things I've experienced are streetlights which seem to consistantly go off (or on, in some cases) as I walk/drive by, and at one point I picked up an uncanny ability to randomly think of an episode of The Simpsons a few days before it aired. It always happened in such a way...

    The Long Duel

Yup, that's exactly where I snagged the idea from. The pathway itself could just be one scene along the entire route though. And I really like the idea of having mini-bosses throughout. I keep having visions of the one scene from Hero where the two assassins in green carge through the...

    The Long Duel

He's returning to his homeland which had been invaded and conquered (by what, I don't know). He's fighting his way up a long mountain pathway, bordered by cliffs going down on one side and cliffs going up on the other. I like the idea of breaking up the endless fight with both flashbacks...

When Do You (GM) Kill PCs?

The issue really comes down to how you treat the game you're playing/running. If you treat is just as a game, then killing the characters off doesn't have the same sting. If you treat it as you might a cooperative story, then you want to make sure that the protagonists of the story stick...

    Mortality and age..

If you want to play around with immortal characters, the nature of the game changes drastically. Treasure and power aren't particularly important when you can have millenium for them to accumulate. Most enemies are dealt with simply by outliving them; why bother putting yourself at unnecessary...

Far Realms insanity, let's melt minds.

I keep trying to figure out a way to describe a place where, in much the same way that gravity is subjective (meaning that whichever way somebody wishes to be down becomes down for them), size is subjective. A place where if you're running away from somebody and you want a quick way of hiding...

    Artifacts vs all else

To be fair, artifacts are only supposed to be used as plot mechanisms meant to propel the storyline forward, and *not* as every day, casual magic items. Most artifacts have (or should have) significant negative side effects to avoid their casual use (think The One Ring and it's happyfun...

Diaglo: What's so great about OD&D?

I'd go nuts if I couldn't chuck my dice around every now and again ('specially since I have very happy dice which roll *really* well).

Things a GM should not be allowed to do.

459: No referring to Vulcans as "those damn space elves"

Diaglo: What's so great about OD&D?

I think I grok. It has something to do with being able to jump into the game with little in the way of rigamarole. I think it's why I prefer a diceless/dice-lite style of game play.

    My strange pasttime

It's a strange pasttime I picked up while I was growing up. Never mind trying to run a game in/on all of the various land masses I created, I just found a type of Zen just by drawing the darn things. Here's a map I drew over the course of two days. Mind the stitching!. I think the paper size...

Wierding out / customizing your monsters

How about a woodland entity akin to a medusa or a cockatrice which, instead of stoning it's victims, turns them into plants?

Escape from Hurricane Katrina + Live Blog from N.O. Hell

From the impression I've picked up, it was mostly drug addicts who are/were going through withdrawl and not as widespread as one would think.
