For Minis? Nil, since I never got into the plati-crack craze. For books? $50 limit per book as a general rule. (Though I start to really analyze after the $30- $35 mark.) I have made some expecptions (WLD, RAR), but they are genereally few and far between.

You are correct; I haven't looked at set lists. Stil have no interest in playing, but may now go to Ebay, see if I can get some of the Cthulhu figs for cheap. :)
