Thief seems overpowered to this new/old DM

Anyone with area attacks will benefit from other party members that can reposition enemies (and to lesser extent, allies), but that's already much less available to most characters than just being able to stand in a flank.

    You down with OCB?

And if you do consider places like China, you realize you need to support mobile platforms; more people around the planet access the internet with their phone than with the desktop computer they don't have (though, admittedly, most of those people aren't going to be paying $7 a month for DDI).

    You down with OCB?

Interface Builder is the most awesome thing ever, assuming you're doing Cocoa development for Mac OS X or iOS.

    You down with OCB?

I was going to dispute your point about HTML5/JS, but since I'm one of those engineers Google throws at web UIs, my perspective may be a little different from companies like WotC. ;)

    Holy Symbol as Mage Implement?

Star of Corellon, Convert's Symbol, or Ioun-Blessed Symbol will work. Or you can multiclass into a divine class, probably Cleric for the daily heal.

Opportunity action & Immediate action question!

Unless you have the Mobile Challenge feat. Then, if the marked enemy tries to shift away and charge your ally, you hit it with Combat Challenge when it shifts, and shift after it, then when it tries to charge, you take your OA and stop it cold if you hit again due to Combat Superiority.

Thief seems overpowered to this new/old DM

That's incorrect. Heavy vs Light Thrown only matters for basic attacks. If you're using a power like Twin Strike, then you do what the power says, and Twin Strike says to use Dexterity if you're making a ranged weapon attack. It's the same as if an Artificer used it with Magic Weapon—he'd use...

Thief seems overpowered to this new/old DM

Well, dwarves can average 8.5 damage per hand at first level with Dwarven Weapon Training and Waraxes or Craghammers. They're still quite a ways from achieving their long-term value, though, because you just can't get that many damage boosters at low levels, so they'll be behind rogues and...

    March and Beyond

Did they change the preview? There's a link to a Spellthief Paragon Path, but I don't see anything about any hounds anywhere…

Random Question - Creatures with powers that resist the prone effect?

Agreed. In general, proning is not some uber-technique that wins all fights. It's actually rather ineffective against most monsters, as they just stand up and either hit you or charge. It only does much against ranged attackers and those with specific mobility requirements. If the PCs...

Random Question - Creatures with powers that resist the prone effect?

"Gooning it" is how it goes if the PCs can knock it prone consistently. Proning completely wrecks dragons that are supposed to rely on mobility, because it keeps them from flying. The PCs then pig-pile and smash it to bits with CA to boot. Even if it's willing to eat a bunch of OAs to escape...

Thief seems overpowered to this new/old DM

At 1st level, Rangers aren't that special, and Thieves can easily outstrip them. By late heroic, though, Rangers start pulling ahead of anything else for single-target damage because of their ability to double-dip on every single damage booster with Twin Strike and Encounter/Daily powers that...

    CB Demo Builds...

Dear god, yes! Why do I always have to click past random characters to get at my characters that I actually care about? The whole UI for the online builder has way too many damn clicks for operations that should be much simpler.

The dominated condition and sneak attack

CCG in that case doesn't stand for collectible card game. It's the unfortunately-chosen abbreviation for the Living Forgotten Realms Character Creation Guide, which are the official rules for taking part in RPGA games, which have been spun off into a separate organization but are still under...

    Possible DDI Tiered Pricing...

By my fist "give away", I actually meant "give away with the rest of the tools"—now rephrased for clarity. The point is that charging extra for the ability to GM is suicidal. You want people to have everything they need to GM available for the price they're already paying to be a player, so...

    Possible DDI Tiered Pricing...

That's faulty reasoning. You don't have to recoup the cost of GMing-related tools by explicitly charging more for them. Instead, you can recoup it by selling more player subscriptions. Since you can't have players without GMs, including the GM tools at no additional cost is an investment in...

    Arena Weapon Fighter Build Question

As I have noted before, the GM should always be able to change the rules to work as he or she wishes, but should never be required change the rules to get them to work in the first place. This is even more important in a game heavily promoted for public play with the same character under...

    Possible DDI Tiered Pricing...

Trying to charge more for GM tools would be WotC shooting themselves in the face (and they've given no indication that they're stupid enough to even contemplate it). Without GMs, there is no game, and there is always a shortage of GMs relative to players. You want to do everything possible to...

Ritual Casting: thinking of giving for free

I give it out for free and don't bother tracking the cost of rituals, and they still only get used occasionally. My feeling is that there's very little difference between one PC having Ritual Casting and all PCs having Ritual Casting, and if no PCs have Ritual Casting, it's not fair to the one...

    Arena Weapon Fighter Build Question

You're right, it is absurd. I expect the D&D rules to be written to the much higher standard of precision set by the Magic: the Gathering rules.
