Planning a Dessert for RPG Couples

Well thats disappointing. I was expecting how to build a hexcrawl in an arid area for a two person D&D game. I need to learn how to spell.

Is The One Ring 2E Kickstarter going to break the records?

I am not a LoTR fan at all but I am a sucker for starter sets and that one looks fly as hell. Plus free league puts out great stuff.

Blog (A5E) Level Up: Works In Progress

Looking Good! I like the "shinny math dice". Are you rolling out a starter module or a low cost quickstart PDF? I have long thought that a dynamic starter modules can help launch a system. I wasnt a big 5e fan at first, but the sandboxish nature of Lost Mines made me want to keep playing and...

Official RPG for Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra announced

Is PbtA easy for younger gamers both to play and to GM? Someone above said it can be tiring on the GM, but ive never played it.

B&G's Silver Edition of Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden - A Review

I don't hate the idea of expensive components, playing aids, expanded content, and luxury add ons for adventures. But when the adventure is just a so so middle of the road nothing special effort like RotFM then its kind of silly. Its like speding a lot of money to add offroad accessories to...

Test The Awfully Cheerful Character Builder

Maybe a wat to pick your genre, before you pick your role? Lots of scrolling to get through the options.

Review Roundup: Tasha's Cauldron of Everything

The artificer class was a reprint, multiple of the subclasses were reprits (off the top of my head, oath of glory, blade singer, spore druid), patron rules (as you mentioned), side kick rules, spells from SCAG, probably more. So lots of the crunch. I get that some people dont have those books...

Review Roundup: Tasha's Cauldron of Everything

2e as an edition ran for 11 years, was a well thought out buisness decision to try and make a more user friendly version of the game that was still compatible with 1e, and produced some of the fan favorite content that players still ask for. How was it largely a failure?

Review Roundup: Tasha's Cauldron of Everything

I don't really trust "professional" reviews of rpg products I am sceptical that they probably got a review copy and are trying to stay in the good graces of the companies that feeds them these books. Add in a lot have affiliate links to the products and its hard to know what is business and what...

    In Praise of Dice

I am firmly in fudging is bad. Passionately to a point its hard to type a comment that stays within bounds. So I will just say sure it can be scary to head into the unknown that randomness brings but these are games about adventure.

D&D 5E 3 Of The Adventures in Candlekeep Mysteries

Like the idea of the genie one with the evil master* and finding a way to free it. Also giving a party one wish is a good way for the DM to sit back for a few hours and relax as the players debate the best use. *Realistically all masters who enslave a genie are evil.

    This is the Way

Saw this article on another Hasbro property, "Risk" being developed for TV it also which mentions a D&D TV Series. https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/beau-willimon-adapting-hasbro-board-220030943.html "It is the latest Hasbro property being developed by eOne after it was acquired by the toy...

    This is the Way

Maybe mini series would be better way to represent D&D and show the full variety of it. Each series has a cast of different charachters taking on classic dungeons, urban intrigue, wildness hex crawl, ect. That way you see the variety of both the type of adventures, type of characters, and type...

D&D 5E The New D&D Book: Candlekeep Mysteries: 17 Mystery Adventures [UPDATED!]

I agree it can be done well, if the author takes the time to really plan it out, but too often they just get lazy or dont have the page count. I have seen to many "roll to countinue" checks in mysteries or ones that are so broad the DM needs to prep for every eventuality and the DM gets stuck...

D&D 5E The New D&D Book: Candlekeep Mysteries: 17 Mystery Adventures [UPDATED!]

I love mystery adventures but running sherlock holmes style mysteries adventures at anything but low level tend to be very difficult with lie detection, speak with dead, mind reading magic, augry, ect. A lot of the old 1e and 2e Dungeon Magazine adventures tried, but all had amulets of non...

    Pathfinder Beginner Box Review

The 1st edition beginers box had rules for advancing to 5th level. Disappoint this only goes to 3rd level. That box was a great pathfinder basic version. Overall as said by Ringtail above LMoP is a better adventure and introduction, but pawns and a huge plus. I bought this to see if I would...

Blog (A5E) Level Up’s Monsters: The Stat Block

I make stat blocks in excel for most creatures for my campaign so I can fit a bunch on a sheet of paper when running a combat. One of the things I do, and think you should do, is note the save parenthetically in the ability score. STR DEX CON INT WIS CHR 16 12 16 9 13 12 +3 +1 +3/+5 -1...
