D&D General What’s the weirdest mount you’ve ever employed in-game?

A man, though this was based on a Moorcock deal.

D&D 5E Tweaking 5E: Your knobs, dials and switches.

Classes Variant: Class Ability Score Adjustment Each class gives you a choice of an ability score increase at 1st level (see class entry). If a race increases one or more Ability Scores by 2 or more, reduce one of them by 1. For example, under this variant, a High Elf increases Dexterity and...

D&D 5E Tweaking 5E: Your knobs, dials and switches.

Rogue Ability Score Adjustment: Your Strength, Dexterity, or Intelligence score increases by 1. Proficiencies Armour: Light armour, bucklers Weapons: Simple weapons, arming swords, bolas, bo-staffs, broadswords, hand crossbows, longswords, rapiers, scimitars, shortswords, two-bladed swords...

D&D 5E Proficiency vs. Ability vs. Expertise

For me, Expertise sort of crosses the line from elegant design to lazy. Merely doubling the proficiency bonus is not that interesting, and it implies things about the game world I don't dig. I don't think Bards and Rogues being able to specialise in an area of knowledge like no one else can is...

D&D 4E Where was 4e headed before it was canned?

It seemed to be going into damage control territory, for classes, as many did not like the AEDU (wizard) structure for all classes. Maybe if they had taken a bit more time to release, and not quite designed in such isolation by Heinisoo & Co., it could have been better received.

D&D 5E Proficiency vs. Ability vs. Expertise

Right on; and SWSE is a fantastic game, but has horrendous scaling, so I rip out the +heroic level to Defences and BAB.

    D&D 5E Exhaustion how often / unfair?

We use this too, and you are also incapacitated for 1 minute.

    D&D 5E Exhaustion how often / unfair?

It is rather brutal. If using the long rest variant, I think a week's rest should remove all levels of exhaustion.

D&D 5E Proficiency vs. Ability vs. Expertise

Yes (sorry about the formatting going all wonky): Rogue Ability Score Adjustment: Your Strength, Dexterity, or Intelligence score increases by 1. Variant: Proficiency Bonus Weapon Attacks: Medium Saving Throws: High (Dexterity, Intelligence); Medium (Wisdom, Charisma), Low (Strength...

D&D 5E Tweaking 5E: Your knobs, dials and switches.

Yes, and as critical hits favour monsters (in the end), it also curbs damage spikes from monsters with bonus damage dice to their weapon attacks (planetars, etc).

D&D 5E Proficiency vs. Ability vs. Expertise

I'm not a fan of Expertise, especially its impact on the half-baked grappling rules. A 9th level bard or rogue can practically go around pinning pit fiends and what not with impunity. We have gone for a granular proficiency bonus for some campaigns: Variant: Proficiency Bonus; Low, Medium...

D&D 5E Tweaking 5E: Your knobs, dials and switches.

Using Ability Scores Proficiency Bonus Characters and monsters have a proficiency bonus determined by character level/hit dice. Strength Attack Rolls and Damage You also add your Strength modifier to your damage roll when attacking with a ranged weapon such as a sling or a longbow. Dexterity...
