    Question (Potential Breaking Combo)

@Ganadai: I understand this position, but I'm not sure it holds with all the vagaries of automatic damage. Let me see if I can find some more stuff from the PHB to illustrate my point... Because it is the same, or nearly the same, situation. The conjuration of an attack power is doing...

    Question (Potential Breaking Combo)

It's your attack power. The question isn't who's hitting, the question is whether it's a hit. Edit. Consider: Would you deny a Wizard the benefits of his Cold feats when he's using Bigby's Icy Grasp?

    Question (Potential Breaking Combo)

This combo is achievable at the 10th level. Take an elven rogue, max your dexterity, and multiclass into cleric for the daily power Blade Barrier. You will also need the level 1 rogue daily power Trick Strike. Use Trick Strike, rerolling with elven accuracy if necessary. Pop an action point...

    Grading At-Will Powers

It's still a disadvantage. I see the benefits, but they are underwhelming. Why would you? The point is to take advantage of temporary combat advantage when you have just one action, but that can be done just as easily with a ranged basic attack. Yeah, I'm not sure what I was thinking...

    Grading At-Will Powers

I don't get the love for deft strike: 1. The movement provokes an attack of opportunity. 2. If you can't flank with your base move speed, you're doing something wrong. 3. Its only practical use (using it to get close during the surprise round) is dangerous (puts you next to all the enemies)...

Is Coup de Gras too weak?

That's a very good house rule. Bravo.

How can you be indifferent if you're playing D&D?

Can you design for/around Reach weapons?

A halberd is also useful against any enemy that shifts as an interrupt.

    Char Sheet: Attack/Defence Workspace

Neceros, I'll be honest... I wasn't at all impressed with your previous sheets. I love your new 1-pager.

Those [2 damage types] +1 damage feats

I see no problem with these bonuses applying to caster AOE powers, since Weapon Focus applies just as well to Fighter/Ranger/Paladin/Rogue powers. You're trying to put weapon types and elements in the same boat, but they are not the same concept.

Those [2 damage types] +1 damage feats

Ugh! I would hate it if they made feats like "Improved Initiative" that give a bonus to one stat. They should name it "Healtthy Wits" so you get +2 Initiative and +1 to your Fortitude defense. Prerequisite: 15 Cha. It's not bland compared to the other feats in the PHB, and it has the...

    Rangers and dual throwing weapons

Ideally you'd have magical axes by level 9 - and magical thrown weapons return to you.

    It's not confusing at all.

Those [2 damage types] +1 damage feats

What these feats should have been: Elemental Focus - Pick two non-weapon damage types. You have a +1 feat bonus to damage rolls when making an attack that deals either type of damage.

Noticed something on the core set slipcover.

    This. Nice catch.

You primary stat should never be lower than 18

I'm a fan of starting with odd numbers. Observe: Dragonborn Strength Paladin Str: 17 19 Con: 11 Dex: 10 Int: 10 Wis: 14 16 Cha: 14 Boost Str and Wis each level, then boost Con and Wis at level 28. Dragonborn Strength Paladin Str: 18 20 Con: 11 Dex: 10 Int: 10 Wis: 14 16 Cha: 10 So for +1 Str...

Ranger & TWF vs. Archery Powers

Toughness alone is probably more useful than the archery feature. There's nothing wrong with a feature being situational as long as it's balanced accordingly.

    D&D 4E Is infiltration/misdirection possible in 4E?

I wouldn't say those options are really new, but they certainly seem better-integrated to me.

    D&D 4E Is infiltration/misdirection possible in 4E?

If you want to maintain the magical elements in your espionage missions AND you want everyone to have access to these elements, there's a clear solution: design magic items for them. Rather than items that just grant invisibility, it may be a good idea to put in side-effects or drawbacks so that...
