D&D General Are you a DM?

How is has the number of active users changed on this site over the years? I have a feeling it is less people now than what it used to be during the 4th Edition years, when there were more players on this site. But I might very well be wrong.

D&D General Are you a DM?

Maybe the players in 5th Edition is more looking at how others play on youtube and other media, rather than discussing character optimization as was the case in 4th Edition. Would be interesting to see how many are players in the Paizo discussion boards, might be more players there based on its...

D&D General Are you a DM?

Interesting to see how this forum have changed. Back in 4th edition it was a lot of players in here asking for advice on how to improve/optimize their characters. They are almost gone now, and I must say I miss them. It is a little bit too "DM heavy" these days.

    D&D General 38 Year Campaign

Well, as we probably will not learn from this 38 years old campaign guy, I though I would try to share my rules journey for our campaign instead ;-) We started off with 1st Edition, but very soon I wanted something more "realistic" than D&D. I remember being influenced by Runequest at the time...

    D&D General 38 Year Campaign

We just celebrated 35 years in our gaming group. Same campaign, but with no miniatures ;-) There has been some changes along the way, but 4 out of 6 players remain from the original setup.

    D&D General Hexploration Design

Have not run a hexcrawl, but might want to try it out. I think the modified resting rules in "Adventures in Middle-Earth - 5th Edition version" would add to the danger and resource management. The PC would have to find "safe zones" where they can recover.

    D&D 5E The Last Edition of D&D?

Considering how little material they are producing right now, maybe they have already started the internal work on a 6th edition, or maybe Advaced D&D 5e?

    D&D 2E Edition Experience - Did/Do you Play AD&D 2E? How Was/Is It?

I played it but did a lot of houserules to it. In the end it was a combination of D&D 2e, Runequest and the skillsystem from the James Bond RPG.

D&D 5E Basic question - how many encounters per day

This is an interesting topic which I feel have changed during the various D&D editions. From a game design point of view, I think D&D in 4th and 5th tried to create more balance and "control" for the DMs when planning/designing the adventures. 1st to 3rd Edition was shiftier by design, and not...

D&D 5E Setting Idea: Bronze Age Utopia

I can see some similarities in my own campaign to the one you are proposing/looking at. I have been running a campaign since 1985 centered around the Babylonian bronze age, around 1600 BC, focusing on the area around ancient Mari. Bronze is the metal used, but iron is starting to appear from...

    Best in-game experience/encounter 2019: Player view

So what was your best in-game experience/memory from your gaming during 2019? The things that stuck out from the rest, and why. Only player view. No DM view in this thread. (Sadly I only DM, so I can't share myself) /Myrhdraak

D&D General The senseless achitecture in most official products

Could you share some pictures on maps that you have reworked (as well as the original map) and point out the changes you did and why. Would be interesting to look at.

D&D 5E Nobody Is Playing High Level Characters

I like this idea a lot. Maybe good input for WotC. Imagine that the first PHB have all the classes from day one, but only for level 1-10. When PHB 2 comes out it focus on level 11-20, etc. An easy way for the publishers to add new flavour to each tier of play.

D&D 4E List of Potential New Martial Practices

I am actually not using the Character Builder, we used it in the beginning but I thought it was to restrictive in the formatting for my taste. I want to be able to customize the character sheet experience much more. Today I just copy and past the material from Word over to Power Point which we...

D&D 4E List of Potential New Martial Practices

I really liked the formatting. It was much easier to see all your work. Will go through and see which ones I might want to steal to my Rituals Compendium.

D&D 4E List of Potential New Martial Practices

I think you could have added a lot of the summoning, animating, conjuring, etc. which have long durations in D&D 3.5 and earlier editions (some emerged towards the end of 4th Edition, such as summoning gargoyles or creating scarecrows, but they should have done it earlier). Basically, any spell...

D&D 4E List of Potential New Martial Practices

On a general note I think the whole ritual/martial practice area was under developed in 4th edition. A lot of utility spells would have been better of as rituals. The whole psionic area should also have included psionic "mantras" or whatever name you think would fit.

From Pathfinder 2e I really like the create traps ability that would really fit well with the 4e martial practices
