D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

I think the complainers are far more likely to be the problem than the non complainers but you have to be careful. No one likes to hear complaints so it's easy to just cut off the justified complainers who really just want to make things better. Humans have been killing the messenger for as...

D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

At the table during the game I deal with it by applying consequences. I generally find that fixes a lot of players that i've had other's say can't be fixed. There are some who refuse to get along with group and sometimes the best thing is they find another game. But I've also found some of...

Complainers on both sides tend to assume it's an otherside problem instead of a human problem.

ok you are confusing a RailRoad (the module the players agreed to play), With a DM forcing the players to play a certain way or to only go to certain encounters etc. It may seem small but you are confusing the Noun Railroad with the verb of the DM who might be RAILROADING. One can be on a...

    When disagreeing…

Almost all human beings are going to take you saying thier ideas suck the same as them sucking no matter how good you are at communicating. I've seen a lot of managers over the years heartbroken when they figure that out.

    When disagreeing…

Probably about the time we started thinking of people as replaceable units in the corporate machinery instead of human beings and teaching everyone that the shareholders were more important than the company, our ethics, morals and all living life on earth.

Spoilers Doctor Who s15 (or 2) [[spoilers!]]

I think RTD started out great and flamed out and that Chibnall was a train wreck. Moffat unfortunantly had to go and intentionally break ever single sacred cow of the show to make the point he was the director. Some fun episodes but he's a big part of the reason the show hasn't recovered ...

    When disagreeing…

I find explaining to people the consequences of their current behavior and how it is working against them to work far better than punishing them. Punishing employees can generate short term behavioral changes but almost never generates long term changes. It's a waste of your time and their...

nice very long do it my way or hit the road. My previous statement stands. If the game is going well they'll want to sit and talk about it. If not your just back in High School being forced to talk about something that you weren't into to begin with.

Spoilers Doctor Who s15 (or 2) [[spoilers!]]

We'll have to agree to disagree. I think the series would have been far better without them.

but since 1e there have been players that love that stuff. This is the problem with rules for everything. My game may not be ok for your players and your game may not be ok for my players. If a group of players want to play D&D (Paranoia Edition) more power to them.

Spoilers Doctor Who s15 (or 2) [[spoilers!]]

OH god no. He killed the show with the absolute Narcississtic need to outdo himself every episode till it just felt stupid. I simply want good writers and a director that is ok just making good shows and hoping for great ones instead of trying so hard to make great ones he misfires more than...

D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

I think some people that truly love the idea of sandbox play with no rules>not sure it could actually exist> get confused with the concept of Tyranny of Choices. Most people are overwhelmed by a large number of choices and sieze up and make no choice. It's so universal it's a serious part of...

problem is then it starts to feel like High School or a Job. If they want to stay everything is going well if you have to make them stay then why are they there?

D&D General Ranger as Nature Assassin?

I'd not call it ranger. Just take the sacred cow off the chopping block. But the idea is sound especially if you tie them to neutral to neutral evil Druidic Orders who want to take down monsters, hero's or any other enemies of the balance.
