D&D General Handling the Orc Horde as a key setting element

+1 to this. Your setting doesn't have to have tons of nuance and pass review by 5 sensitivity readers and 3 editors for professional publishing. You don't risk a Twitter mob for your home or FLGS game. But you want to dig into it anyway, because you're someone who starts at least 6 threads a...

WotC D&D Discord to be replaced by the DnDBeyond Discord.

How many times has WOTC made sudden decisions that led to the deleting of past content and/or player-to-player sharing now?

WotC WotC's Chris Perkins On D&D's Inclusivity Processes Going Forward

Any idea how much this costs, like on a per-book type basis? My first thought was "that's expensive!" but then I remembered that publishing doesn't pay well, contract work in publishing pays less well, and editing is probably less expensive than writing.

Dragonlance Draconian from Shadow of the Dragon Queen!

The Draconomicon (3.5) puts a dragon's heart and lungs in the chest, nearly where they would be in a human. We can be pretty sure that they're still within the draconian's ribcage unless the designers decide to do some unnecessarily odd physiology.

RPG Evolution: Boo! Pity the Ambush Monster

I have two good ambushes I've done. One was in Castle Dracula... A pitch-black room in which Light spells and torches do not function due to Magical Darkness. There were 8 Shadows in the room. The party moved very nervously along the wall for a couple of rounds before the Shadows attacked. The...

D&D 5E Companion thread to 5E Survivor - Subclasses (Part XIII: Warlock)

Yeah, I barely recognized the UA ones. Almost all of the Warlock subclasses are good, and they are good for different things. Warlock is so modular... you can be a gish, full caster, controller, sneak-thief, healer, or scout. There's usually enough build room to fill any two of those roles.

    D&D 5E Swashbuckler Rogues

Do you have a ranged weapon, or are you just throwing daggers? If you are not using TWF or a bow, a shield is an easy way to boost your AC several points. One of the armor proficiency feats nets you this, and maybe Breastplate use depending on what's available. If you are using TWF to get a...

D&D General Origin of the Bearded Devil name?

"Bearded devil" has always seemed like an odd name, but I discovered a possible origin yesterday: This series of Burma Shave signs hangs in the garage of the Moody Mansion, an old house (American old, not European old, it's only ca. 1895ish) in Galveston, TX that's been turned into a museum...

    D&D 5E Companion thread to 5E Survivor - Subclasses (Part X: Sorcerers)

Mix. The magic items were "meh" and heavily caster-focused, while mostly ignoring martials aside from tattoos... when martials are the ones who are more item-dependent for versatility. The ACFs were generally good. Some subclasses, like Rune Knight, Psi Knight, and Psychic Rogue (mis-named...
