    You last "Kill"

My last kill was Cedric the Medium, who fell to the vile proboscis of a wandering giant tick. :] In the same session, the scythe of a trapped grim reaper statue also did for Cedric's boon companion, Darien (also a Medium). :D These lack-worthies were brought to the surface by the...

do you play any non-d20 games? If so, what?

Currently running a Classic OD&D campaign (since Christmas). Have, and am looking forward to running, C&C. In the last year have run games using OAD&D, Mayfair's DC Heroes, and BRP CoC.

We're Going To Do Return to the Tomb of Horrors and One Player has Freaked Out!

I'm with Henry and rogueattorney. It's a game. Step up to the plate and show what you've got--having played this PC from 1st level means he should know the ins and outs of his abilities and should have a strong group dynamic with the rest of the party. It's a test of player mettle. I'd jump at...

    Where did Bahamut come from?

diaglo is the only true OD&D grognard at ENWorld, all others are pale imitations of the real thing. Some, however, aren't as pale as others. :uhoh:

    Where did Bahamut come from?

D, baby, it was Sup. I, Greyhawk. For shame. :( (Though he wasn't named until the AD&D Monster Manual).

    Top 5 D&D Books

The three core books in my case being Men & Magic, Monsters & Treasure, and Underworld and Wilderness Adventures, the rest of the list would be as follows: 1. Holmes' Basic D&D 2. The Best of the Dragon, vol. 1 3. Supplement I, Greyhawk 4. Supplement II, Blackmoor 5. Supplement III, Eldritch...

    D&D basic set ??

Here's a link to a thread I've made on another site outlining the handful of "house rules" I've made to my OD&D campaign (and the reasonings therefore). http://www.dragonsfoot.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9335 Evolution is a natural part of the game, and encouraged by the system, I feel--as the...

    D&D basic set ??

I use the Holmes-edit Basic D&D (original "blue box/book") as a supplement to my Classic OD&D (original "white box") campaign. I like the five category alignment system, the commentary on weapons in combat (att/round), the use of Dexterity to determine initiative, and the expanded monster and...

C&C house rules -- what are yours?

Bastard sword and heavy mace may be wielded with one hand by characters with Strength 16 >. Barbarians reduce fatigue time from primal rage by 1 hour per point of positive Con modifier.

Take the GM out of the Equation- A 3e design philosophy

Aha! Your edition bias is showing! ;) I never knew a wizard/m-u in earlier editions of the game who wouldn't have preferred sleep to mm any day! :p

how many homages to original cover to 1st ed AD&D phb?

The idol pic appears also on the original OAD&D DM's screen, but that was (IIRC) painted by DAT, also, so it's not exactly an homage. I've seen it, too, on the game screen DeeDee used in an episode of Dexter's Laboratory, which I thought was a neat touch.

how many homages to original cover to 1st ed AD&D phb?

There was an homage painting in the 1995 reprint of the 2nd edition DMG, the angle shown from the ceiling and looking down. The module L3 contains a text reference to the idol, and it is mentioned the sculpting is meant to represent Baalzebul (as he appears in OAD&D).

[C&C] Will there be a revised Player's book?

I am rapidly leaning towards a new C&C campaign in favour of both my current OAD&D campaign (ongoing since 1994, will be a straight-over conversion) and my latest d20 campaign, but I won't be abandoning my OD&D campaign (too much fun, and such a breeze to run/play: accept no substitutes ;) )...

Castles & Crusades - Specific monster stats

I do something similar, except that I subtract the results of the enfeeblement roll from damage inflicted, and apply it as a penalty to Strength attribute checks. Incidently, Bolie, I know from reading the C&C thread in General Discussion that you've been wondering about monster stats in the...

    ADnD 2nd ED VS. 3.5

I presently run three individual campaigns: 1) OAD&D (1st edition)-- ongoing since 1994, personally playing since 1982 or so. Still my favourite version of D&D; this group meets once/month, usually. 2) OD&D (classic white box + supplements + Holmes' edit Basic D&D)-- this campaign began just...

Don't forget Angore the Cleric and Filmar, Mistress of Magic! (aka, Bob and Mary from the office) Other luminaries from the OAD&D core books include Olaf Blue-cheeks (a 10th level Lord), his henchman Thirgru Thorkisen, Magician, Halfdan the Necromancer (Olaf's associate), Celowin Steelshield...
