Battletech??? An Entire Product line as a single product???

I have to say that, for someone with zero inside knowledge about this issue, it was pretty inappropriate to address this matter here. This is obviously a matter where Rasyr, an observer outside of the ENnies process, has information which makes it appear that one product nomintated for an ENnie...

    You're a gamer???

I used to live in another city for five years, and developed a really good rapport with one of the older clerks at the convenience store near my house. The day I moved out of the city, my very last day there ever, I find out he's been looking for a D&D group, just as I had been. Life is cruel...

    Two Truths and a Lie

#1: I once played in a 9-hour marathon one-shot where each character was a Japanese middle school student and the whole point of the game was to kill one another. I won. #2: I had one player ruin a superhero campaign in the first session because he managed to get a 35 Dexterity and believed he...

Updated character sheets: SWSE, Iron Heroes, WFRP

You rock. I use your d20 Modern sheet to the exclusion of all others. Your work is well appreciated! By the way, something appears to be wrong with your RPGSheets hosting. Some of your sheets are no longer on that site.

    Favourite Names for Weapons

Firefly for the win! Easily one of the best named weapons ever. My second favourite is Reason, the ultra-chaingun from the novel Snow Crash. In a conflict you could resort to violence, or you could use Reason. :p

    What would AIs call themselves?

Well, I think I've settled on a term. My thanks to everyone who provided me with assistance. I'll let you know what name I've settled on if it gets approved by the man upstairs.

    What would AIs call themselves?

Celebrim, I think you've got a lot of imagination, and I really think you yourself should be doing something creative based on these opinions of yours. You have some very clear-cut ideas which could pan out well for you in a creative venue.

    What would AIs call themselves?

The more this discussion leans towards the infeasibility of humanity consciously creating artificial sentience, the more I begin to think that, in this particular case, humanity never intended to create artificial sentience. It just sort of happened by accident. Consider, for a moment, how a...

    What would AIs call themselves?

I like Silicates, but I am a little worried about prior use of the term. Plenty of good ideas so far. I could not have expected so much help. Thank you!

    What would AIs call themselves?

WINNAR! Heh. Just kidding. I almost seriously considered it. Maybe Sony made the first sentient robot, but it failed because they wouldn't license out the technology... his name was B. Ray Betamax. ;) But I like the idea of being named after the first, or some sort of prime robot. Lemme...

    What would AIs call themselves?

Robots did the actual construction, but humans ran the corporations who built them. Humans decided how many robots to build, how to design them, how much to charge for them, etc. When I say "robots make themselves" I mean that robots control all aspects of their production - you could call it...

    What would AIs call themselves?

Good rant, with some interesting insight derived from modern observations. I find you're a little too reliant on the Turing test as a measure of sentience - like you've said, a program can "pass" a Turing test simply by being well-programmed. You also seem to focus on specialized programming...

    What would AIs call themselves?

Knowing nothing of Asimov's stories other than the true I, Robot novel, I believe Asimovian robots were all constructed to serve humanity. That was the importance of Asimov's three laws, since it was meant to protect humanity from any potential harm from robots while allowing them to be...

    What would AIs call themselves?

Good suggestions so far, folks. I'm pretty impressed with the conclusions Celebrim was able to jump to based on so little information. I did specifically refer to certain legal inequities between robots and humans in the original post, and without giving away too much setting detail, let me...

    What would AIs call themselves?

Imagine a future where sentient robots have achieved the same mental capacities and consciousness as human beings, and after many tribulations, became recognized as people with legal stats nearly equal to humans. I say "nearly" because no future human society could ever see robots as a truly...

    How are you using True20?

If you have any conversion notes laying around from this game, I'd love to see them. Just today I was considering YotZ for True20, and that it would be cool.

    How are you using True20?

Being starved for actual gaming, I haven't had a lick of chance to use True20 yet. There are a few things I would actually like to do with the game. 1) Play Blood Throne. Setting looks awesome. I have a thing for post-apocalyptic fantasy. 2) Play a modern conspiracy game. I'd like to...

    d20 Cyberpunk-setting options and recommendations.

"Sadly" only in the respect that the original poster sought a d20 game, and Shadowrun is not such. It wasn't meant to be a description of the Shadowrun system at all - having never played it, I'm in no position to judge.

    d20 Cyberpunk-setting options and recommendations.

Sadly, Shadowrun is it's own system. I'm working on a cyberpunk setting currently, but I don't plan to be finished until August and it will be for the True20 system. Adamant Entertainment's Terminal Identity line caters to cyberpunk tastes, and it's built for d20. I suggest checking it out.
