    D&D 5E Experience with a bladesinger?

Some of the bladesingers in the lore and fluff fought with two weapons. A bow requires two hands to use, so I don't believe it is compatible with bladesong.

    D&D 5E Experience with a bladesinger?

I think this edition has come the closest to the 2nd edition version out of all the other editions. The class really does feel like a wizard warrior should feel. The Eldritch knight just doesn't have the spell versatility to fulfill that nitch

    D&D 5E Experience with a bladesinger?

Im a big fan of Fighter/wizards, and the blade singer was my favorite kit when it first appeared. In my opinion no other addition has really captured the feel of what a bladesinger was suppose to play like except this version. I have a total of three bladesingers. I have one 10th level who I...

Guiding Adventurers in Out of the Abyss

They wanted to go to Mantol-Derith because they heard it is a neutral city. That was my fault I guess. Its ok though. I read a little more and realized that Mantol-Derith is hidden. The Druegar Hemeth reminded them of that, and now they are going to Gracklestugh. Thanks for your replies though

Guiding Adventurers in Out of the Abyss

I'm DMing OOTA and the party wants to head to Mantol-Derith rather than Grackelstug after the Kuo-toa city. I see no reason not to let them, but that is chapter 9. Should I let them? Is there a definite order to the places they can visit in order to keep the story cohesive?

    D&D 5E Optimizing a BladeSinger

Lets look at levels 8 through 12. This is probably the sweet spot for 5e. Lets assume you are taking feats rather than ability score bumps. Your stats will be as such. AC 19 (Mage Armor + Dex + Int) with the possibility of a 24 including shield. that's better than most fighters and paladins...

    D&D 5E Optimizing a BladeSinger

I don't think two weapon fighting works with GFB and Booming Blade. I looked this up. Casting a spell is not an Attack action. It is listed as a different type of action in the Combat section of the PHB, and the weapon attack is part of the casting of the spell for GFB and Booming Blade.

    D&D 5E Optimizing a BladeSinger

How necessary is the Fighter level? I think the highest Concentration save you could expect would be about a 22. That would be half of 45 which is half of 91 assuming you have Absorb elements. I always give my mages at least a +2 for Con. Assuming a +5 Int that is a +7 with Adv opposed by a...

    D&D 5E Optimizing a BladeSinger

I haven't explored the option of false life, and if you have a Cleric or Paladin in your party Aid is very useful as well. Those spells can take the place of Toughness. They add more flavor to the concept too. Contingency can be the spell that saves you from area affects like breath and meteor...

    D&D 5E Optimizing a BladeSinger

Well, my fighter mage has 98 HP. He got hit with a breath weapon for 91 HP. If he was just a strait wizard he would've went down. A bladesinger is meant to be in the mix. That means taking punishment not hiding in the back. You will be in the midst of the battle where the area spells are going off.

    D&D 5E Optimizing a BladeSinger

I would even argue that taking three levels of Ranger or Fighter for Maneuvers or Hunter's mark and Colossal Slayer may be worth the spell progression slow down; however, I'm not contemplating doing that right now.

    D&D 5E Optimizing a BladeSinger

I think that one level of fighter is extremely beneficial with very little drawback. You get CON Save, A fighting Style and Second Wind. The drawback is your spells come one level later; however, you only lose one spell slot. You will benefit throughout the whole carrier of the character from...

    D&D 5E Optimizing a BladeSinger

I'm a lover of Gish builds. I've been waiting for the Bladesinger for a long time. I currently have a level Fighter 8/Wizard 5 who just did the final battle in Rise of Tiamat. I also have a fighter 1/level 7 Wizard who went through Elemental Evil. Both have different play styles. Both builds...

    D&D 5E Optimizing a BladeSinger

I'm believe this class has good survive-ability. Shield and Blur are powerful. Even if you want to use your concentration for offense, you have Shield and Mirror Image. Then when everyone groups together, you can blast them with an area spell or cast fear and get an op attack spell (because of...

    SCAG Thread

Here's a question, If I run a bladesinger in Out of the Abyss, and while I'm playing the mod as a home game it becomes legal can I then bring that character into expeditions?

    SCAG Thread

I agree with all that except for the part about Asmodeus. He's a LE god just like Bane who is already legal. I also believe the need to rethink the restrictions on flight. They already made a mod that gives boots of flying to characters of level 1-4. Its a shame that who ever wrote the book...

D&D 5E Out of the Abyss - what Archmage Gromph knows [spoilers]

Gromph did not know he was summoning Demogorgon. He thought he was summoning a major demon, not a demon lord. This whole issue was caused because LLoth tricked the Psionicist (can't think of his name) into getting Gromph to cast the spell that would weaken the faerzruss. I wouldn't conclude that...

Greenflame Blade Cantrip from SCAG, Courtesy of EXTRA LIFE

You still had to make the attack roll to hit the target. Thunderclap is a Thunder effect that hits every target adjacent to you as long as they fail their save. I don't see much difference.
