An Unexpected Victory, Unconditional Surrender, and Unfinished Business.

That is what the hobby thought as of November 30th 2022. And now we are here.

An Unexpected Victory, Unconditional Surrender, and Unfinished Business.

I am talking about ALL open content provided by third parties independent of any Wizard's authored SRD since the year 2000. You in contrast are focused on 5e oriented content. There are 23 years worth of creative content where the author only permitted reuse under the OGL 1.0a. That why a OGL...

Yes you do for anything you want to sue that has been made open content under the OGL 1.0a that is not game mechanics.

Appreciate that. While my track record isn't 100%, I am more interested in actually accomplishing something rather than shouting to make myself feel better. So I focus more on what I can do. Despite the fact that my end goals can be quite idealistic.

And there are the non-D&D systems that uses the OGL with no reference to the d20 SRD. And OGL works where the author is no longer in the business or have passed way.

It works out in the open source world. Not all licenses will be compatible with each other. But in the case of CC-BY and assuming that ORC mirrors the OGL. Then the solution is to declare the CC Content as product identity. What? So the independent agreement happens to be CC-BY. And if ORC...

An Unexpected Victory, Unconditional Surrender, and Unfinished Business.

Make no mistake, I have been and remain an advocate of open content under open licenses. The goal I advocate is the independence of the hobby and industry from the D&D brand and the company that owns it. Afterward, WoTC is free to compete on its own merits. The well-being of TTRPGs is best in...

An Unexpected Victory, Unconditional Surrender, and Unfinished Business.

Sometimes it seems unrealistic, and sometimes we get Pathfinder vs. 4e and now an entire SRD 5.1 under Creative Commons. Appreciate you taking the time to read it.

The cat is already out of the bag in that regard. ORC will be popular and widely used but it not going to be what the OGL was. I have seen this play out in the open source world enough times, starting in the 1990s. People can and will follow their own instinct and share content under a...

    DriveThruRPG numbers for 2022

To a point, remember on DriveThruRPG they have to go through a multi-step process to get the free content. Unlike say my direct link which is just one click and you are done. So a free download on DriveThruRPG has look like it is worth getting at least a little.

An Unexpected Victory, Unconditional Surrender, and Unfinished Business. I understand everybody is tired of Wizard's drama despite the good news. I appreciate that once again you have taken the time to read my post and hope the following is informative and useful. Friday afternoon, Wizards of...

The new OGL 1.2, What is Victory?

I will take it and if some of the rumors I was told are true Cynthia Williams had a hand in it so she can skip the apology. The extent of the creative commons license was more generous than expected.

    DriveThruRPG numbers for 2022

Another way to get around this is to use the wayback machine and look at the number reported for the difference in metal levels, year by year. That would exclude everything except for actual sales. 2015 https://web.archive.org/web/20150321105819/https://www.drivethrurpg.com/metal.php RPG Now...

    DriveThruRPG numbers for 2022

I assume the proportions of orders like you described remained constant over the years. You sent out a few thousand last year, but a person in your position in 2008 was probably only sending out a few hundred due to the known smaller audience of digital customers at the time.

    DriveThruRPG numbers for 2022

DriveThruRPG numbers for 2022 For those who don't know, there is rarely a day that doesn't go by when somebody doesn't download a free copy of Blackmarsh from DriveThruRPG. Over 13,000 since its release in 2011. Each order is accompanied by an order number. To date, this has meant I had a...

Why We Should Work With WotC

You do know the two individuals are the CEOs of their respective corporations. They approved of everything that is happening there is no above unless you count the board.
