    D&D (2024) I just got a 2024 PHB From Gen Con. AMA!

Does proning a target end their concentration? Someone said it does but it was a friend of a friend source and I find it hard to believe. I'm pretty sure its wrong but I'm just curious.

    D&D (2024) I just got a 2024 PHB From Gen Con. AMA!

This might be a bit obscure. The beasts seem to not need a saving throw to prone and perhaps poison enemies anymore. Does the primal companion of the land still prone enemies and do they still require a saving throw?

D&D (2024) Skeleton Entry and Stat Blocks from New Monster Manual

Is a prone and motionless skeleton not already indistinguishable from an innanimate skeleton? I feel like it is. That's how I'd rule it anyways.

    D&D (2024) New stealth rules.

Its an indirect buff to martials. Didn't we want martials to do fantastical things? Well now a level 1 rogue can go invisible fairly consistently. In all seriousness, this rule does leave a bad taste in my mouth. I can work around it, but its definitely going to be confusing and silly for my...

D&D (2024) 2025's Ancient Green Dragon Stat Block From The New Monster Manual

If I'm an ancient green dragon, I'm negotiating with the party to try to get them to not go directly in combat, especially when I'm not in my lair. I think this creature's more manipulative than combative, but I also think that it would like to appear earlier in the adventure and be more of a...

D&D General Shocked how hard it is to get new players now-a-days

Something simple that can make the barrier or entry easier, both online and offline, is to offer pre-made character sheets with backgrounds and everything. A lot of time and effort can be used up making a character, and while new players might initially want to make their super-unique...

D&D General Resource Management should not be your only tool to challenge players.

I know that the most famous tool for challenges in TTRPGs are resource management, and, in a way, all games with resources can be resource management games, but I feel like people consider it the only way to challenge a player, especially in D&D. In reality, though, I've found that resource...

    D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Ranger"

Wow, I'm very impressed. WoTC managed to design a Ranger even I, 2014 Ranger's strongest warrior, don't like. Honestly, I wish Hunter's Mark didn't change at all so they could put those buffs on the base Ranger chassis. Because it was never Ranger's best spell past level 5 and now its still...

    D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook Reveal #2: "New Fighter"

Hmmm...this is assuming no magic weapons with additional damage dice. I'm thinking a flame tongue, for instance, might have the champion come ahead a few times. Which means its effectiveness depends on their new philosophy on magic items, if they have one.

You'd be surprised how few people originally noticed the gorilla.

    D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook Reveal #1: "Everything You Need To Know!"

Impostor from Among Us Edit: I'm cackling to myself imaging in a group of a valiant knight, a keen wizard, and a pious cleric, there is also just this guy.

The AI Red Scare is only harming artists and needs to stop.

Hmm...only a few pages in, but its apparent the conversation has shifted away from the main topic and into moral and legal discussions abou5 AI. Regardless of your stance on AI's morality, OP's point that the scare is hurting real artists is tangible. People are being falsely accused of using...

D&D 5E Why I think gold should have less uses in 5e, not more.

So, reading the replies in this thread, I partially agree that players should have the freedom to exchange currency to improve themselves, but maybe it shouldn't be the same resource as what you use to improve your livelihood or roleplay situations. It should still be seperate from XP. Of...

D&D 5E Why I think gold should have less uses in 5e, not more.

To keep the post brief, I think gold should be used as an exchange of intangible experiences in a game rather than mechanical benefits like trading it in for magic items or XP. The reason is that when players realize they can expend gold for concrete buffs to their character, they will hoard...

    D&D 5E We Would Hate A BG3 Campaign

I have a rule: Non-optional/variant rules are always allowed. No need to ask if you can be a high elf or a conjuration wizard. Optional/variant rules are very likely to be allowed and you just need to tell me you want them before you commit to it. Options outside of the PHB are allowed as...

AI is stealing writers’ words and jobs…

I've always stood by that anything that requires a soul cannot be replicated through AI. AI painters have no purpose in their strokes, since they don't even stroke a canvas. AI writers will throw concepts into their sentence soup but won't have any particular message in mind. Sure, maybe...
