    Dealing with an "oldschool" DM

Or, you know, he could be going by the treasure a character of that level is assumed to have from the DMG.

    Dealing with an "oldschool" DM

Understandable. However, as a player I would like the opportunity to give feedback on proposed rule changes before a final decision is made. After all, as a player, I'm the one being affected. I don't expect to have my views prevail every time, but I do expect my concerns to be listened to...

    Dealing with an "oldschool" DM

Could you elaborate on how the OP's points come across as having a bit of a sense of entitlement? I'm trying to see how you came to that conclusion from the information he gave, but I'm not seeing it for myself. To me, as a player, it sounds like he has valid concerns. Just to make sure its...

Anyone else having a problem updating the Character Builder?

No problem updating the Character Builder initially. For some reason, getting the hotfix takes forever compared to the regular update, at least for me. Last months hotfix as well as this months hotfix both took a lot longer to download than the regular update it seemed.

    AVP2 excerpt: Story Items! ARMOR!

Yeah, add me to the underwhelmed list. I mean its nice they include the flavor and I do appreciate it, but I was hoping it would have been like Fallen Seraphs suggestion and been something that could grow with you as you level. Just adding back fluff to magic item descriptions does not an...

Web based Mapper for PBP games, great for combat etc

Looks pretty neat and just what my PbP group might be looking for if we continue. If we do keep going and they are interested, I'll let you know.

Do you read RPG books all the way through?

I may eventually read a RPG book's contents cover to cover just from the sheer volume of how often I read through various sections, but I cannot recall a single RPG book that I have consciously read straight through. I approach them as reference works as others have said, and read the sections...

    Next Month: Githzerai

I'm not sure of the conclusion you've reached. The Githzerai historically have been Monks and their MM PC write-up has their ability score bonuses lining up perfectly with the Centered Breath Monk style that was previewed earlier, +2 Dex, +2 Wis. I fully expect that to stay the same in their...

I really don't like the Compendium links in articles.

While I understand you are not calling me a pirate even though I do fall amongst the people that are irritated by this change, that doesn't change my feeling that you are belittling any concerns I may have over the changes as irrelevant as long as pirates are getting irritated as well.

I really don't like the Compendium links in articles.

The irony is that if I had waited until someone had pirated the article, I would have had an easier time printing out a hard copy for myself. Instead I have to copy/paste from multiple sources just to have a version I can easily print out that contains the class and its powers.

    Next Month: Githzerai

Feh, I was hoping you had read it wrong, but it seems I was so excited to see the Githyanki that I substituted them for the Githzerai when reading the Psion article. Oh well, I'll still enjoy getting more info on the Githzerai, but not as much as I would if the race had been the Githyanki.

    New PH3 Class....The Psion!

Add me to the list of customers annoyed by the format change. I love having the commentary but I would much rather see that in a second article and have the class in the standard format so I do not have to waste even more time copy/pasting the class into word so I can print out a copy to read...

looking for fantasy adventure books recommendations

Just a quick correction, Acacia is not David Anthony Durham's first published novel, it is his fourth. His other novels are Pride of Carthage, Walk Through Darkness, and Gabriel's Story. It is, however, his first fantasy novel.

I almost forgot to mention a great trilogy about a paladin, The Deed of Paksenarrion by Elizabeth Moon.

looking for fantasy adventure books recommendations

Book thread, so I have to plug Scott Lynch's books: The Lies of Locke Lamora and Red Seas Under Red Skies. Also, another book I enjoyed was The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. If you don't have an aversion to harsh language and violence, I would strongly recommend trying to find Heroes...

"4E, as an anti-4E guy" (Session Two)

Since I've played on a battlemat of some sort since 2nd edition on, I suppose I'm just comfortable with a grid and judging distances using one.

"4E, as an anti-4E guy" (Session Two)

I, too, am hoping someone can elaborate on the difficulty with the squares because, like Rechan, I just don't get that complaint at all. I don't doubt its an issue for the original poster, but it is a complaint that I just don't understand.
