    [Miniatures] Dog's Bones - 2018 ->Dec 18th - Animals

    That looks great, and Great job with the chainmail! A lot painters say that skeleton's are the easiest to paint, but unlike most miniatures there is some unique exceptions that only apply to skeletons. (Brown washes and such). My preferred method: Base coat the mini in brown. Lightly dry...

    [Miniatures] Dog's Bones - 2018 ->Dec 18th - Animals

    :) Also Your minis look kinda dark, almost as if you applied a base coat and a wash, but not the final dry brush afterwards (It could also be the photo). If you did apply a dry brush you might want to try a color one shade "lighter" Disclaimer: As I said before, I'm self taught and my...

    [Miniatures] Dog's Bones - 2018 ->Dec 18th - Animals

    Looking good! Chain mail/ plate mail tip: Right off the bat paint the platemail/ chainmail surface black, and dry brush your silver on. It won't require a wash, just 2 steps and it looks pretty good.

    [Miniatures] Dog's Bones - 2018 ->Dec 18th - Animals

    The black wash is probably the most important step you'll ever master. When I first started I only did a base coat and dry brush. 200 mini's later I learned how to wash and well.... I went back and redid them all. It brings out the detail, it makes the miniature "pop". The key to washing...

    [Miniatures] Dog's Bones - 2018 ->Dec 18th - Animals

    Looking good. It might just be the picture but I'm not seeing a wash on these miniatures. I'm not an amazing miniature painting artist, and I was self taught. So if this sounds dumb, just ignore this post. I usually paint a base coat (darker colors than the finished colors you want), then I...

    Miniatures and Role-playing games

    It depends entirely on your gaming style. I prefer to play without miniatures. I think they restrict my players imagination to the point that they only attempt to do actions that are written on their character sheet. When I play this way I'm usually running a very heavy role-playing type of...

    What Would Devils Do?

    I'm starting to picture this story having 3 acts. ACT 1 "Something is not right" (yes I've titled them for you) the PC's come to town discover the mindflyer's plot and try to save as many people as they can until the mindflayer skips town. ACT 2: "The actual threat" the mindflayer's minions/ I...

    Pathfinder 1E Rules Rules Rules! >:(

    If this player is a friend and you really want him to play in your group then talk to him, let him know your expectations, frustrations, and your DM style. If you both can't come up with a compromise than either deal with it, or kick him out of the game. There are plenty of gaming groups out...

    What Would Devils Do?

    Whether your a player or Mindflayer or lawyer you will never be as good at making/ twisting a deal as a devil is. Devils are the embodiment of Lawful Evil, they start their existence as worms and through hundreds of thousands of years of never slipping up and always coming out on top of deal...

    Kickstarter Top Ten Tabletop Game Kickstarters: Why So Successful?

    Agreed with OP^ My Dice are 20 years old and I've got mini's form the 70's. AD&D, D&D 3rd/ 3.5, Pathfinder... My books and games come and go but the dice and Mini's stay. Hence why I pitched in for DF's Game tiles, and the Frog god games Tome of horrors KS!!!

    In case you guys didn't know If you want a bunch of extra spells check out the "Favored Class options" for Human Sorcerers. Sorcerer: Add one spell known from the sorcerer spell list. This spell must be at least one level below the highest spell level the sorcerer can cast. You won't be...

    Pathfinder 1E [Rise of the Runelords] I have a problem

    Rise of the Runelords gets progressively harder. Each chapter starts off easy but finishes with a difficult battle. Make the fixes suggested above, and let them enjoy their time squashing goblins. The last time I played I just about TPK'd the party in the very last Barghest room. These...

    Pathfinder 1E what books do you suggest for starting?

    I would recommend the Core book, it has everything you need. Its basically 3.5's PHB and DM's guide. The Advanced players book is also pretty great, at this point Pathfinder started to add "kits" (well they probably aren't called kits but that's what they were called in 2nd edition) which...

    D&D 5E Do all the rules need to be released at once?

    If 4th edition was a better game than 3.0/3.5 people would be playing 4th. A pathfinder variant probobly would have sprung up but wouldn't have gotten vary far. Instead players opted for a decade old game that still has terrible flaws, and an overwhelming amount of rules. In addition WOTC...

    D&D 5E Do all the rules need to be released at once?

    There was a time when D&D could release content rich source material and still make a hefty profit. 2nd ed, 3rd ed, both successful games and their core books were twice as thick as 4th's. They didn't require a subscription fee to play the game, nor were we forced to buy into their miniatures...

    D&D 5E Do all the rules need to be released at once?

    4th editions thin over priced 3 core books with vast amounts of white space and faulty rules; paired with subscription fees... I don't want to see D&D 5th flop due to another round of greedy Hasbro Executives, but there are plenty of dungeon dwelling rpg's on the market and I'm not buying...

    Phantasmal Killer and Spellcraft

    If the DM wanted your player friend to survive the encounter he wouldn't have cast phantasmal killer. 2 fail saves; time to re-roll an new character with better saves.
