Mordenkainen's Mag. Mansion & Bags of Holding

Hello all, I was just looking at the spell "Mordenkainen's Magnificent Mansion" and noticed that it "conjures up an extradimensional dwelling". So.... one can't bring a bag of holding into the mansion, can we? A rather huge pain in the butt considering that most every 13th level character has...

Imbue arrow and the 10' wall

Based on my own understandings... Ref save on the fireball: 14 (10 + 3(spell level) +1 (minimum stat needed to cast is 13 = +1)) Regarding arrow & fire damage: yes. You hit a person with an arrow, they get hurt. Regardless of whether the arrow then explodes in a fireball. Jumping down 10' is...

If YOU were a specialist wizard, what would you be?

Abjuration all the way. If wizards existed I'd be all for protecting myself from all the whackos that'd go around trying to charm/dominate people, or the nuts going around lobbing fireballs and stinking clouds all over the place. ;) It'd be essential for survival to walk around with a Mind Blank...

    Is this a viable spell

The damage for the spell actually strikes me as being too low for a 3rd level spell. Seeing as this spell would still do fire damage, I'd personally see no problems with upping to damage to something like 1d4/level (max 10d4). -Eraslin

    D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] Good 8th Level Wizard Spells?

It would be expensive in spell slots, no question. One telekinesis spell per enemy that goes through the wall. I don't have my book with me at the moment, but you may be able to toss more than one person at a time provided that their combined weight is less than 25lbs/lvl and that they're within...

    D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] Good 8th Level Wizard Spells?

If your character also has the telekinesis spell you might consider Prismatic Wall. Telekinesis can throw a person who weighs no more than 25lbs/caster-level (375 lbs for you) if they fail a will save. Fighter and rogue types have low will saves... Consider what a wall would do to someone who's...

    [Maximized, Chained] Ray of Enfeeblement

My understanding is that you cannot chain ray spells. They have to have a single target. 9th level spell: chained disintegrate... yuck... -Eraslin

Question about the Globes of Invulnerability.

So, it seems that most people tend to play it like an antimagic field that only works for L0-L3 spells; ie: play it as written. Really removes the spell from the list of "no-brainer" combat buff spells, eh? ;) I don't know about everyone else, but most every wizard I play has a horrid AC unless...

Question about the Globes of Invulnerability.

Hi all, I'm presently playing a wizard who's recently aquired Minor Globe of Invulnerability. Now, the way that I read the spell and the way that I've seen the spell used (both in pen & paper, and in computer games) differ. The way I've always seen the spell used, is that once cast it...

How did you find EN World?

Like many, I originally found Eric's site while hunting for information on 3e prior to release. It was a particularly good site, so I bookmarked it and have been following along ever since. -Eraslin

    Help with a Halfling Wizard...

Hi there, I don't really have any suggestions for spending his cash, other than maybe a metamagic rod of energy substitution (if the party wiz throws up a protection from fire, just start lobbing acid balls...). Or perhaps a metamagic rod of silent spell (to make the flying-invisible-silent...

    Pricing a metamagic rod?

Hi all, I'm trying to figure out how to go about pricing a metamagic rod of Heighten Spell. Specifically, I'm looking to price: a) A rod that will heighten level 0 through 3 spells to level 4. b) A rod that will heighten level 0 through 4 spells to level 5. Both would function the standard...

Useful spells for your everyday (real) life

Endure Elements -- I live in Canada, it can get cold and it can get bloody hot. Would also be a nice boon for the tonne of homeless people I see shivering in the winter. Power word, Stun -- Make it really easy to break up fights and such. Zone of truth -- Have some fun with politicians in...

"sleeper" spells you didn't realize were so good

I'm going to have to second this one. Especially when you combine it with the chain spell feat. It's a will save to prevent your held weapons/armor from being shattered, and fighters have a low will save... :-D Equally fun is a chained blindness/deafness, or chained greater magic weapon, or...

A spell to increase crafting skill?

Greetings all, I come seeking advice on what spell level to place a spell that would grant the caster a +20 bonus to a chosen crafting skill for a duration of 1 minute per caster level. The primary purpose of the spell will be to to be used in conjunction with the fabricate spell. Thanks for...

A slight change to maximise spell

Consider the metamagic rods from T&B, however. With this change, a 9th (say) level wizard casting a fireball through the rod would do 60 damage instead of the 54 damage he would have done before. It's a tiny advantage, but not one that's liable to break the feat in my opinion. What would be...

At what level would you put this spell?

Hi all, I come seeking advice. I'm trying to make up an area effect version of the reduce spell, and I'm not sure at what level to put it. I'm inclined to think level 2 or level 3 (likely 3), but I can't decide. Here's the spell, as I am visualizing it; note that this is for 3e, not 3.5e. AE...

    Lets talk about charm person

Just to add a little perpendicular reminder into this discussion (as it's often forgotten in my own games, but can make a big difference). The charm spells grant the saving character a +5 bonus to their will save if the charmer is presently in a combat situation ("being threatened or attacked...

    Item Creation ruling

I'm going to add a little something here. The reason, to my understanding, that it's okay for this arrangement with respect to wizards creating wands/staves of curing (or clerics creating wands of fireball) is that said wand/staff would be an arcane item. Thus, it would be unusable by all divine...
