    D20 system to play Firefly?

I'm currently playing in a Firefly game that uses D20 Modern, D20 Future, and Sidewinder: Recoiled, and it's been working pretty well. The notable hiccups we've seen thus far: Piloting is very, very expensive to take, something you'll want to house rule away if you want people to be able to fly...

More guys play D&D than gals, Why?

... The only constructive comment I can make to this thread is... um... No, I was wrong. There is no constructive comment I can make to this thread. Sorry.

    D&D 4E OT: Shadowrun 4E announced

Well, given that I responded to you (and that's a total of... oh 3 responses online to fans regarding negative opinions on work or business over the past year) I would say my record is pretty good. As to being involved... I can talk about the people and the company, to a certain extent. I cannot...

    D&D 4E OT: Shadowrun 4E announced

Well, you have to admit that the line "Now they're coming after your games too" was a bit melodramatic, and firmly worthy of a reference to Game Ninjas. I never once said that your complaints were unfounded or somehow unworthy of being heard. It was the histrionics I objected to, along with the...

    D&D 4E OT: Shadowrun 4E announced

I just do my best to keep from commenting. It's a lot more amusing/interesting that way. I've been attempting to do the same here, but sadly Vocenoctem managed to accidentally bait me upthread. My bad. There's just no way to respond and have it turn out well when people are upset and really...

    D&D 4E OT: Shadowrun 4E announced

For some reason, a number of people were hypothesizing that the mythware new Cyberpunk edition that's supposed to be coming out Sometime Soon had been rolled into SR4 and were asking about it. Mike Pondsmith is/was the force behind R.Talsorian publishing, which put out Castle Falkenstein...

As a note, Rob Boyle is an old hand from FASA. Most of the primary freelancers were also freelancers for FASA. There are some new ones, naturally, but it isn't as though the personnel completely changed. With all due respect.... that's just silly. I accept that you don't like the turn the game...

Yes. I wrote one of the settings and edited most of the book.

As far as FanPro US is concerned, the lines are handled separately and really have very little to do with one another. I don't think there's any fear of D20 cooties invading the office. :)

    Shadowrun d20?

No problem at all. I visit fairly regularly as it is, I just don't post very much unless I can think of something useful to contribute. :) It's early days yet for talking about it in any detail, but I think you'll be pleased with the final product. We've put a lot of work into making some real...

    Shadowrun d20?

Please keep in mind that FanPro does not own the IP for the Shadowrun line. It licenses the RPG rights from WizKids. To be honest, I'd be very surprised if FanPro had the option to "sublet" the rights to the IP to another company, assuming there were any profit to be had in doing so (which given...

    Shadowrun d20?

The Seekrit Reason Shadowrun Will Never Be D20. Well, okay. It's not really secret, but there is a reason. First, it is not true that the authors hate d20. Given that Steve Kenson still regularly takes a hand in SR projects and I'm a regular line editor and sometime author, I don't see how...

    Help for an Origins Neophyte?

I'm really not sure. I always arrange to pick mine up there. The pre-registration line is never very long (especially Wednesday and early Thursday) and the event tickets and badge are all there waiting for me. Also, that way I know I won't lose them before I even get there. I have to recommend...

    Parental advice needed

Well, true, but they do plenty of that anyway. My goal here is to avoid the moment of blinding rage where one brother ends up breaking his stick over the head of the other brother, resulting in stitches and a hospital visit. Again, I don't really try to keep them from playing. I mostly just try...

    Parental advice needed

I have two boys, 5 and 7. We've been fairly careful about what they watch, though their father is a bit more liberal in what he'll allow (mostly because he wants to watch it) than I am. That being said... they're boys. They "fight." They also actually fight. They'll wrestle and run and jump on...

Campaign Ended by... Bad Dice Rolls.

Something to keep in mind, though, is that this was set in Eberron. Eberron is designed to have more of a pulp sensibility. In keeping with that, it would be just as appropriate to have the characters fall and have the world go black, leaving them in suspense about whether the character lived or...

Not necessarily famous d20 game designers

Thanks, Steve. I'm hugely flattered to be included on that list. :)

John Cooper does it again [Libris Mortis]

The truth of the matter, though, is that mistakes happen in technical books, whether they are game books, or math textbooks, or science manuals. It's not new, it's not out of the ordinary, and it's not unexpected by anyone. Whether you feel WotC is committing an egregious number of errors or...

Gaming Books as a Business Expense?

Of course. The thing about it, though, is that it must actually be a business, and not some pseudo-business that you cooked up to deduct your game stuff. :) If this is not obvious from sources of income and what not, your odds of flagging an audit are much higher.
