    question about half-elf paladin/warlock

The 1st one is quite a tricky question. You'll have to take that to Customer Service. There's nothing I can recall that forbids it. You may want to check to see if Retraining allows you to take the same encounter power, by sacrificing a later levels encounter power-slot. It would be a very...

    Implements

    1) It doesn't have the weapon keyword. It acts like it does. 2) Existing statistics, including keywords, are overwritten during enchantment, thus that the entire text of the item matches, exactly, the text of the enchanted item's description.

You're ignoring what I said. The base item is ultimately irrelevant. The point is that the ritual overwrites all stats of the base item, with the final stats of the item you are creating. Which may or may not include the keyword [Implement] depending on the enchantment.

    Pre-Cast Rituals?

I like both of these, and I don't find either to be very overpowered. With the Implement, I might actually require that the implement be of a particular quality to hold the ritual, not just have the feat, as well as having use of the ritual triggering a 'magic item use' for the day. But, very...

No, it doesn't. The Enchant Item Ritual grants the totality of the text to the object being enchanted. It effectively overrights anything that was previous... which means a Weapon Enchant would be lacking the Implement Keyword.

Light vs Dark or vice versa

It doesn't need a page. LOS is blocked. End of story.

A non-magical quarterstaff does *not* work as both. A non-magical [Implement] Quarterstaff works as both. Identical was perhaps too stronger a modifier. In the hands of a wizard, its a Staff he can activate for a minor arcane shield (Or whatever fluff you use) There is still no requirement to...

    Order to simultaneously triggered reactions?

After Initiative modifier, you move to Dexterity Modifier. If they are still equal, flip a coin. I'm trying to recall MTG Judgment days, in multiplayer games, and interrupts, and drawing a blank. At least in MTG, you could call it on snap.

Exception trumps General. That's not an applicable example. If the object does not have the Implement keyword, it is not an implement, Period. There are no rules that even remotely suggest otherwise. As indicated, the items in question still have the implement keyword, except for those...

Very first thoughts after reading 4e PHB

They have definately reflavoured Fey to be, well, Fey, not goody-goody-two-shoes. Personally, I've never really referenced any of that as being DND centric, and I don't believe the greater market does, either. Swords and Sorcery, to the non-intiated, IS DND.

Do Monsters know about a Fighter's Combat Challenge?

Personally, I rule that most animals that aren't vermin are also aware. My dog is cunning enough to know that when I'm watching her, she can't steal my food. She waits till I look away.

Unified Mechanics, and other House Rules

Howdy All. I'll be updating this thread as I finalise other rules, but I think the largest change I've got is regarding the healing surge resource mechanics. In the general spirit (Of which I heartily approve) of mechanic unifcation, I present the Heroic Surge. :1: Take all references to...

I cast a blast spell, you say: how high?

What exactly do you think a reflex save is?

I cast a blast spell, you say: how high?

Diagonals are a single square. Personally, IMC, all blasts are 5ft high, so you can angle a blast upwards, or stand on something 5ft high and fire a blast above your nearest dwarfs head.

    Charge (Movement limitations)

You've missed the point. You're not allowed to Charge, then run away after. (Or shift, or Teleport) You are allowed to run/move, then charge.

How to detain an Eladrin Rogue? ie, teleporting

Have you seen a solitarty cell? You're fed through a double-blind. Open one day, insert food, close door, which opens the interior door. Then close interior door, whack your stick against the door a few times (Which can keep you sane... apparently >.>) and then presto. No LOS, and food. The...

    Scale Mail Armour Check?

In RL, scale is *not* More cumbersome than Chain. I've worn both, for different things, at different shows. If you are strong enough, Scale is simply better. Hence the no armour check penalty, and the feat requirement for most classes. Because chainmail is generally just a hauberk, and the...

Smart DM, Stupid Monsters (possible KotS spoilers)

I use wisdom as a general basis for individual tactics. Intelligence is for commanders and chess players. Wisdom is the stat for Sergeants and Lieutenants. I'm basically using the sound of the waterfall to mask the sounds of fighting, so unless a Kobold gets past my party (Which is possible...

Solving DCs - Know Your Group

As far as I can see, the biggest problem with Skill Challenges is the general idea that the party is intended to succeed more often than fail, although I acknowledge there has been solid mathematical analysis that shows a vast amount of swingy-ness, based on certain assumptions.

    Ritual Costs and spell components

I expect my players to carry Xgp's worth of Ritual Components of an applicable flavour. They don't get straight gold=power conversions. And, in fact, gold is going to be the rarity, where as I'll let harvesting/preparations of assorted Components occur at a daily rate based on environmental...
