I'd also be more concerned about the large cardboard displays for 4E that the various book stores and game stores received to put their 4E books in, instead of on the shelf. That is far, far more trash than the miniscule amount in the dice set if you are looking for waste.

I imagine that this is the major reasoning for the packaging. They discussed the best placement for the product in book stores (not hobby stores) and decided on a size, which led to the packaging and artwork. Smaller packaging moves the product away from the books, makes them easier to shoplift...

I'm afraid I'll have to agree with several posters above. I really enjoyed hearing about your game and how the players reacted. That said, the only 'wrong' thing, IMO, is thinking that there is only one true path to fun. As long as you are having fun, who cares what system or game you are using?
