Deluxe Dungeon Master's Screen: It Lives!

I know there was another image of the inside of the screen on Twitter a few weeks ago, showing a WotC guy at a convention, but I'm having a hard time remembering who posted it. -HM

Deluxe Dungeon Master's Screen: It Lives!

I hadn't seen that shot. Yeah, it could use more. I'm using DMDavid's sheets in my screen, and it has more depth than this. -HM

Deluxe Dungeon Master's Screen: It Lives!

Even though I recently got myself a mini screen from Hammerdog Games, I ordered this one from Amazon since it was only $7 and change after a 25% book coupon code that was posted here in December. The cover seems nice, if nothing else! -HM

CODENAME: MORNINGSTAR - Is This The End, Or Is There More To Come?

You think I'm repetitive here? Just ask my wife: "Don't you have someone ELSE you can talk to about this company?!??" -HM

CODENAME: MORNINGSTAR - Is This The End, Or Is There More To Come?

So true. I've been afraid Morrus was going to throw me out of here any second for all of my coming down on Trapdoor. I've definitely been critical, but as I've said before, it's because I was so darn excited by this when WotC first announced it, so seeing the poor decision making has been so...

D&D 5E Ok all, I just cannot wrap my head around how combat works. Please Help.

If so, I really question the value of having a beginner watch hour+ long videos. It simply isn't a good way to learn. -HM

D&D 5E Ok all, I just cannot wrap my head around how combat works. Please Help.

I don't have a problem with them not including character creation rules in the Starter Set, but I do think they should've spent more time explaining how to play the game for beginners. If one has no clue how to play D&D, it simply isn't good enough. Even AD&D 1e's three core books, which are...

D&D 5E Ok all, I just cannot wrap my head around how combat works. Please Help.

That's fairly accurate, but for me, the PHB really does have increased value due to the extra classes, races, feats, and multiclassing rules. But if that stuff and a well produced physical copy isn't important, there's no question that the Basic Rules pdf is a spectacular value. -HM

D&D 5E Ok all, I just cannot wrap my head around how combat works. Please Help.

The 5e Starter Set specifically removes the character creation process, and instead includes pregens, to streamline learning. There was, of course, a lot of debate about whether this was the right thing to do, but since character creation rules are available free via the Basic Rules pdf, there...

D&D 5E Ok all, I just cannot wrap my head around how combat works. Please Help.

Paizo's Pathfinder Beginner Box really does a great job of explaining how to play. I do wish WotC's Starter Set was more like this, because as is, its rulebook is simply a scaled down version of the PHB. -HM

D&D 5E Ok all, I just cannot wrap my head around how combat works. Please Help.

The pregen characters that come with the Starter Set, which can also be downloaded from the WotC site (http://media.wizards.com/downloads/dnd/StarterSet_Characters.pdf), are great reference. They, like the Monster Manual stat blocks, include all bonuses in the appropriate spots so the player...

CODENAME: MORNINGSTAR - Is This The End, Or Is There More To Come?

It's been said a lot before, but perhaps bears repeating. A lot of additional dislike for them came out once Trapdoor made the post about how we're voting for the status quo if we don't back their project. While previously one could simply ignore the Kickstarter if they didn't want to fund, that...

What Happens If CODENAME: MORNINGSTAR Doesn't Fund?

I think even they finally realized it wasn't going to happen, but I still think their backers deserve regular updates. They'll probably be at 75 or 80k when done, which while far short of their goal, sure seems like it would've been enough to do SOMETHING if they could keep it. Their comments...

D&D 5E Which edition easiest to adapt to 5e?

I agree. Still trying to figure out if there's any good rule to follow for this when converting from 1e, or to just wing it based on my own perceived common sense, and/or use the tables in the 5e DMG. -HM

D&D 5E Tempted to come back

Getting the Starter Set dice and a sizable, good adventure for only $12 is a ridiculously good deal. If you want your money's worth, that's how to get it. -HM

D&D 5E Which edition easiest to adapt to 5e?

I was specifically looking at B4: The Lost City. Room 7, for example, has 1400 gp and 2000 sp. That's a lot of treasure! -HM

D&D 5E Amazon and the DMG: What's the story?

The first few pages of mine are excessively wavy, and I don't think it's ever going to flatten. Too much moisture, so permanently this way. It's hard to complain though. With the Black Friday book discount and $15 off Amazon purchases via an American Express Card deal, I got it for $7 and...

D&D 5E Which edition easiest to adapt to 5e?

As I said in my post, this is actually the part I was curious about. While the rest (monsters etc) I feel I can just substitute with the 5e equiv and run with it, I find the amount of treasure rewarded in 1e to be abundant, and am curious to know how people limit it. Much thanks, -HM

D&D 5E Which edition easiest to adapt to 5e?

I've been looking at my 1e modules, and there's definitely a lot more treasure in those. Haven't been sure how to go about it, so any suggestions are welcome. -HM

What Happens If CODENAME: MORNINGSTAR Doesn't Fund?

Yes, I personally only back projects I'm convinced will deliver a product. If one isn't convinced, then back if you truly believe in what the project is trying to accomplish, because if you don't get your reward, there's no guarantee you'll get your money back. -HM
