Armor & DR... once again. Weapon types

Not a fan of the fact that light armor outdoes heavy armor in so many ways (especially at low levels). At higher levels, the problems aren't as serious, because magical full plate and shield outshines any unarmored monk. The only thing I've done is remove the lessened speed of highly armored...

    A new toughness varient

My friends and I house-ruled that any hit die result which is 1/4 or less of the maximum for that die type is rerolled. In other words, reroll ones on a d4 or d6, 1s and 2s on a d8 or d10, and (Only for the illustrious barbarian) reroll anything 3 or less. This cuts down on complaints.

    RFC-1: Crafts and Wilderness Lore

Great Idea, actually. I'd wanted to see something to that effect. Is your intent to make it just another use of the skill, or did it involve a feat or something? I think it'd be fine without, but just a thought. A roommate of mine has been working (forever) on a system for wilderness lore driven...

    A new toughness varient

Stalker0, I think that converting one point of damage to subdual might be fine even if it were all types of damage. I've seen one point of subdual damage save a character's life (if it had been real, he would have died). I think that DR 1/+1 would be useful at low levels, but not particularly...

[feats] Making Run not suck, and a bit of Chi, too.

So, +6 to AC versus ranged attacks, and +2 to AC against Melee, but all the while losing your dexterity bonus. Still doesn't sound particularly "Defensive" to me. But it would go well with the feat I've allowed in the past to retain your dexterity while running. Makes monks scary. While I like...

[feats] Making Run not suck, and a bit of Chi, too.

Only question: Do the bonuses for the defensive dash stack with the bonuses you already get against missile attacks while running, and the penalties against melee attacks? Do you still lose your dexterity bonus?

    Initiative-Affecting Feats

I don't think I've kept track of numbers on initiative for more than a year now. I realized that it didn't make a difference. The order is the same every round, and durations all occur on the initiative of their initiators. I think the first feat is underpowered. If I am human, and I move 30'...

A different way to figure Armor Class - Any feedback?

There's a variant just like that in the DMG. Advantages: All the things you just said. Disadvantage: More dice. I've toyed with it here and there, but only in one-on-one duels.

    Improved Dodge

I think I wouldn't bother taking a dodge feat that gave me the +1 against all targets. I might, but it would be at higher levels, when I was trying to get rid of extra fighter feats. (ok, I guess that never happens) Or if I were playing an unarmored fighter. (i.e. duelist) I like the idea of a...

    Alternate Race Ideas

Meant to come back to this sooner, but, things happen. What I've noticed is that Humans get more play because of the feat and skill points. What I'm trying to do is to bring them back in line. I've attempted to feed the feat into the backgrounds... what I've done, accidentally, however, is...

    Alternate Race Ideas

Alright, maybe I'm reaching here, and I'm sure you'll all give me hell for this, but I think that humans are just flat out BETTER than the other races. Say what you will, but when my group sits down to min-max a few 10th level characters (and, yes, we do that from time to time), humans get more...

    Alternative Rogue Special Abilities

Meh. Bard with 6 skill points, rather than 4, works for me... but then again, I'll just wait and see what the revised DnD does come next July. Until then, my Bard/Cleric of Elistraee will continue to be perfectly worthwhile.

    Critique of two items

Guilt Puppy, I see what you're saying about the fact that these affect fists, and I agree, but I was unsure how to swing it, seeing as how +11 items aren't possible without Epic Levels, and I wanted to avoid that. Destil, Considering the number of times I've disagreed with Monte Cook...

    Critique of two items

I don't know about those Moccasins... they're odd. Dimension door as a free action (i.e. quickened) is an 8th level spell, not sixth. The reflex save and 50% miss chance, however, could lower it. I don't see the problem with just allowing them to cast a quickened dimension door 1/round (i.e. use...
