Crescent Moon power from Dragon 386

Yes, it's ranged attack and a weapon attack, but it is not, oddly, an attack intended for ranged weapons. I think.

Crescent Moon power from Dragon 386

The fluff implies that you carve a crescent of radiant light in the air with a melee weapon and then the light shoots forward as the attack. I suppose by RAW you could use a ranged weapon, too, but it's not a ranged weapon attack - it's a weapon attack with a range. It sounds like a silly...

    Collected Encounter Design Tips

I recently made a vow to myself that A) allows for far more encounters in a session than before and B) allows for far more INTERESTING encounters. Your mileage may vary, but it's helped me a lot: Fewer monsters, more wrinkles. It's basically a reiteration of advice in the two DMGs, but it's a...

Do You Plan To Use Essentials In Your Game (No '4.5 Edition Sucks' Plz, Kthx)

I don't know that we'll purchase any of the books, but once the stuff goes into DDI, it'll be fair game for our group.

    Character Builder Bug? [Versatile Master]

Yeah that's essentially how I read it, as well. It makes more sense. I'm only confused because it showed up on my character sheet (I know the character isn't a rules reference by any means, but it still added ambiguity) so I noticed it and used it before I thought about why I could do it. Oh well.

    Character Builder Bug? [Versatile Master]

...Uh, so does anyone know? I'm playing her again tomorrow night, and I can't find any reference to this issue anywhere else.

D&D 4E No more reprints of the 4E core books?

Honestly, considering the amount of errata they've put out for those books, this is neither surprising nor especially upsetting.

How Essentials and beyond are Bacon

BACON IS THE END OF BREAKFAST AS WE KNOW IT!!!!!!! This ABSURD menace not only BREAKS the balance of the morning meal and DOESN'T BELONG in breakfasts to come, it also INVALIDATES ALL THE BREAKFASTS I'VE EVER HAD PREVIOUSLY! And the worst part is, BACON CO. IS FORCING EVERYONE TO BUY AND...

    Character Builder Bug? [Versatile Master]

So, tonight, I was playing my half-elf warlord who has the versatile master feat but is NOT paragon multiclassing. On my action point card from the character builder, it lists the option of spending an action point to regain the use of an expended encounter power, which comes from the versatile...

Wanderer - Based on Stone Soup's Dungeon Crawl

In order to be versatile, but not dominate every role all the time, they could have a class feature like so: Master of Improvisation Wanderer Feature Encounter * Martial Minor Action Personal Effect: Choose one of the following benefits. Its effects last until the end of the encounter. - Once...

Essentials nostalgia - the death of martial healing

If you have a problem with martial healing, why don't you just disallow the warlord from your game and let the rest of us enjoy ourselves? And how is the warlord's ability to heal any less realistic than the warlord's OTHER abilities, which can pull of some pretty crazy stuff? Why aren't you...

Wanderer's Challenge Wanderer Attack 1 Daily * Martial, Stance Minor Action Personal Effect: You enter the wanderer's challenge stance. Until this stance ends, whenever you target an enemy with an attack, that enemy is marked until the end of your next turn. - Intimidate: In addition...

Wanderer - Based on Stone Soup's Dungeon Crawl

I'm assuming most, if not all, skills are in class for a character like this. So the powers - or maybe the kickers for the powers - could be based on which skills the Wanderer is trained in. That would allow for extreme customization without the hassle of creating a new subsystem to keep track...

Essentials nostalgia - the death of martial healing

Why is anyone concerned about what new players' parties will consist of? If you're not playing with them, you won't be privy to their cleric-only adventures. If you ARE playing with them, well, you probably have the older books, and you can share them. Is there some sort of council I was...
