    D&D 4E The 4E Rogue...love it or hate it?

I would agree with you (well, actually, I suppose I should play 4E first then decide whether or not Tumble as an ability is best for balance or "fun".) However: isn't Acrobatics = Tumble + Balance? Maybe the "Tumble" utility skill is just an "uber-Tumble", since it didn't mention rolling...

PHB classes -- why does it matter which ones are included?

If a Warlord can be simulated by giving Fighters a few CHA-based feats, then a Druid can be simulated by giving Clerics a few special Shapechanging feats. Same with Warlocks/Song Magic.

    Where are the rapiers?

I'm not sure if this answers your question, but you triggered this thought: the "Old World" could be largely free of monsters (or maybe they have strongholds in the mountains, or underground or there's still dragons or the occassional graveyard a necromancer has put to sinister uses) while the...

    D&D 4E Is Intelligence 4e's dump stat?

I really hope Intelligence has some relevance to every class. CHA being a dump stat was bad enough, multiple dump stats per class isn't something I'm looking forward to.

& Sneak Attack: Skills and Proficiencies

Indeed, I am going to be seriously saddened if Int isn't a means of getting additional skills... I guess that's largely because I love skills. :p And I agree that no dump stats for every class would be ideal.

What Blizzard Teaches Us About Games

I'm sure they had auto-mine etc. with Warcraft 3, so I doubt they're going to take a step backward. One of the great things about Warcraft 3 was that its interface was so above and beyond Starcraft's (having to click on individual units to use their powers, as opposed to tabbing through a group...

New Dungeoncraft: The Dungeons of Greenbrier Chasm

    Well said... and hilarious.

    Perception v. Spot

It just depends how common it is. Maybe, according to flavor, Spined Devils have really keen eye sight. If every other monster has a higher spot than perception, then you may [legitimately] complain. And yes, "scouts" having to spend 2 skill points to be perceptive was somewhat lame... of...

Any inherent conflict between per-encounter and per-day abilities?

I like balance. Another poster already did the "physical exertion" example... depending on specifics, it might be a bit odd for melee/combat classes, but for spellcasting classes: having to meditate for a minute to recall certain teachings is simply part of magic. And others have already made...

    Spell-less Ranger confirmed by Mearls

    Jumping on the "good" bandwagon.

    D&D 4E Non-Euclidean Geometry in 4E?

Ainatan has a [potentially] compelling point, but there could be rules to correct for such scenarios, especially since "defenders" have new, never-before-seen tricks. Of course, these rules are ideally less cumbersome than the 1,2 rule. But whatever, we'll see.

    D&D 4E Non-Euclidean Geometry in 4E?

I concur. I've been playing a D&D "Scout" recently and with all the movement I do, the "1, 2, 1" rule is bothersome... having to re-check because you're not sure whether this square is 1 or whether it's 2 is a pain.

    Class Granularity

I voted low granularity, but OakwoodDM has a point about "middle granularity." I'm not fond of splatbooks, at all, but I am perfectly comfortable with 9-12 or so "core classes." Though I suppose I'd still probably prefer more feats/talents rather than more classes, if that makes sense.

D&D 4E Stephen Radney-MacFarland on Conversions and Adventures in 4e

Thanks for quoting that, and Irda Ranger, thanks for writing it. =)

D&D 4E Stephen Radney-MacFarland on Conversions and Adventures in 4e

Seriously. Why would I care about giving a cultist ranks in climb if he's just going to be stabbed to death? If I think it's appropriate, and the situation comes up, I'll give him some ranks. My mind boggles that people actually care about this. Besides, there's nothing STOPPING you from...

    Houserule: Non Adventuring Skills

Just seconding the other poster who thought this was really interesting. But, like him/her, I probably wouldn't implement it into D&D. It is a rockin' idea though. [edit: I also enjoy your later post mentioning the Avatar of Pelor, maybe that's simply because I'd never have something so high...

    Houserule: Non Adventuring Skills

I agree that giving out skills which are never used is somewhat pointless. Also, yes, you can have a background for your character. Though skill points allow some gradation, for example: is your noble good or bad at heraldry? Maybe there's a reason he's bad at heraldry? I mean, the fact that...

    Houserule: Non Adventuring Skills

This is what I'd do, or something similar. Just give out "free worthless adventuring skill slots." Everyone gets two to four or whatever you think is appropriate. I wouldn't limit them to professions, necessarily, but Knowledge: Heraldry may apply (though it depends on how politics based your...

D&D 4E 4e Heal info in new Confessions article

Indeed, raise dead spells are lame. Currently I'm playing in a game with "the death flag" (and without rez spells, since we're playing E6), basically you won't die unless you've raised the death flag (which gives you 6 d20 re-rolls in the scene.) Of course, if the party is all knocked out, bad...

Will Dragon cultural/politcal climate stay the same ?

I'm glad dragons are no longer color coded for our convenience. As for the lack of spells? If it's necessary for the plot: give them spells. Frankly, I enjoy that spells are no longer the default for dragons: they certainly don't need them to be interesting. Both lovely quotes.
