    3rd Edition Planar Books?

I'm searching for all the 3rd or 3.5 edition D&D books dealing with planes or otherwise plane-focused as I can (aside from minor mentions of the planes in Eberron and FR books, and disregarding books on deities & pantheons). I've the following list: WotC's Manual of the Planes WotC's Planar...

    A Game of Thrones

Actually, it's very likely A Dance with Dragons (the fifth novel) will be released January/February 2007. A Feast for Crows and A Dance with Dragons were pretty much written contemporaneously. Book 5 was originally going to come out November '06, but it got pushed back a couple months. He's...

    Middling Saving Throw?

As far as I can tell, no D&D supplement uses an "Average" saving throw (that goes up to +9). The swashbuckler in Complete Warrior has a class feature that effective makes his Reflex save an Average save, but again, this is shown as a class feature and not in the actual Reflex save column...

    Freeform magic variants?

Malhavoc Press's Iron Heroes introduces a cool variant magic system. It can be free-form in that the spellcaster himself can choose the different parameters of the spell. Some don't like the system, though, and the author himself admitted that there were issues with it. It's at least a...

What monster killed your first PC?

Star Wars: My Em'liy soldier/elite trooper distracted Darth Vader to let the Jedi guardian and the rest of the party escape. I distracted him with a critical hit from my blaster cannon. :D Then when he almost killed me, I took out a thermal detonator and thus, that was the end of Jai'zanos...

Why aren't there good alcohol rules for D&D?

Well, if it makes more sense to you, AEG has 6 chapters, one of which is on "Adventuring Gear." And in that chapter is a section on "Food and Drink," which is where the alcohol intoxication rules are under (p. 32 to be exact). The rules aren't too complicated, and many characters could pass...

Why aren't there good alcohol rules for D&D?

Wizards of the Coast did write up alcohol rules of their own in their Arms & Equipment Guide. Another possibility is to treat alcohol as a poison. :p

    Questions about Iron Heroes?

Out of curiosity, why does what material is OGC matter to you? (Unless you're an RPG designer/publisher, in which case, ignore what follows.) As a GM and/or a player, you're not prevented by using anything in RPG books in your games. As a GM/player myself, the openness (or closedness) of a...

    Humor in sourcebooks

One of the things that cracked me up in reading the PBH was the arcane focus for detect thoughts: a copper piece. "A penny for your thoughts." Hehehehe.

Do you read non-RPG fantasy novels?

I've only read non-RPG books for the most part. I've read a couple of the Eberron books that WotC put out, but while they were (mostly) decent, I've read a lot better. I can't see why anyone would read only RPG books, though, unless their love for the material overcame the writing.

Using Monte Cook's "stunts system" in Castles & Crusades

It's not Monte's system, but Mike Mearls's ... Monte Cook is just presenting it. Just want to make sure people are aware of that (and Mearls showcases a stunts system in his "Book of Iron Might" but "Iron Heroes" is likely to have much more depth). EDIT: I didn't see that JohnSnow had mentioned...

Haha, I'm being serious, actually. :p In my online searching, I found a lot of Merlin references. :)

    Faerun vs. Faerûn

I think you mean Alt+0251: û The Alt+0250 just gives you an accented u (ú) not the circumflexed one (û).

Curses!!! Darn you, The Le, and your little dog, too! I did think about putting in "Merlin," but I didn't think it was right. This is worse then a standardized test! :'( I'll send an email soon.

    Iron Heros

It is indeed a "shift" from normal D&D--but one that I think quite a few people will like. I don't know about you, but the models of fantasy that I read don't have magic shops and thousands of mages just wandering around. Lord of the Rings - how much magic does our party of 9 wield? We've got...
