    Dragon/Dungeon for November

No character build or monster builder update?

    Essentially Eberron

Druid and Half-Orc are in Heroes of the Forgotten Kingdom I believe. I would not consider psion, monk, sorcerer, bard or barbarian to be a strong part of Eberron either. Rituals are fairly important with the dragonmark feats, and druids, gnomes, shifters and half-orcs all have a strong place...

    Essentials are melee heavy

After reading through some of the replies of this I had a look at Thief and Slayer, and I was surprised just how absolutely amazing the Slayer is with a bow, better than in melee if he stacks Dexterity. For some reason I thought his stances and dex to damage power was for melee basic attacks...

    Essentials are melee heavy

I was just thinking about this, it seems to me that every single essentials class outside the controllers are melee. Even the character I assumed to be the ranged striker, the hexblade, was confirmed to be a melee caster in the latest podcast. Considering the goals of essentials; do you think...

    Ranger: Scout Preview up!

From the compendium "If a power's type isn't stated, the power is an attack power if it includes an attack roll or if it deal damage. Otherwise, it is a utility power." Colour me wrong.

New Monsters damage et al driving me insane.

How would you balance this character? I think his chance to hit for his dagger should also be +17. I see the combat advantage as a limited damage expression and should be roughly 25% to 50% extra damage for the round. At 10.5 average that seems about right, but on the high end. Should I then...

    Ranger: Scout Preview up!

Going back to the topic of Power Strike and Dual Weapon Attack not being able to be used on the same turn. I would argue that power strike is not an attack in its own right as it does not require an attack roll and the effect says "the triggering attack deals X damage". It seems it is just an...

    Class Compendium Official Announcement

I saw essentials as a nice way of cleaning house. There was far too much bloat with feat and power options. Made selecting feats a chore, and made powers nothing but slight variations with some being a bit more powerful then others, and loosing any real sense of what they are in the game world...

Charging and Line of Sight (?)

Wow, it would seem I have been running pushing and pulling completely wrong then. I have enforced that a pull cannot bring you closer on either dimension and a push the opposite.

Charging and Line of Sight (?)

What I am not sure about is the green squares in the diagram, it seems to me that the green squares above the player charging the goblin should not be enter-able because they bring the player further from the target in one dimension.

    Essentials: Druid Preview Is Up!

In 3rd ed the druid got shapeshifting at level 7, it might be possible that shapeshifting is the sentinel druid's paragon path. It just seems odd that these classes try and capture the theme of the previous edition versions of the class and then completely neglect shapeshifting. Also I find it...

Rules Missing from the Rules Compendium

Are rules for multi-classing and/or hybrid classes in the book? On the topic of rituals, I have DMed a few games and my players NEVER bothered with rituals, and are generally considered too much work. Too many to choose from, too awkward to use and not overly worthwhile. The only ones I have...

    D&D 4E WotC's 4E Setting approach - was it a mistake?

What I would like to see is the published adventurers have ways to make them fit in the currently published settings, or to have dungeon articles to the same effect. Not only to say where they are and swap out the names of a few gods, but to add the "feel" of the setting as well. Additionally...

    Eberron: Any new material published?

However a new Neverwinter Video game (and the first 4th ed game) is coming out around the same time. This seems more like a cross media promotion to me; I doubt it is setting a precedent for the other 2 campaign settings.

[D&D 4E] LFP: two needed, Sunday night, Australian EST

Ongoing campaign set in Eberron which is looking for 2 players to boost the size and replace a person who is moving on. The game has been running for some time now, almost a year, with a reboot a couple levels ago. The campaign follows the adventurers of mercenaries hired out by a pirate queen...

[DnD4e, maptool] LFP: One Needed, Saturday, 7 - 11 Central

I haven't chosen yet, however I cross posted this and have like 4 people now and I unfortunately will only be picking 1 of them. Mainly going to be going by reliability and how keen the person is now I guess :/

[DnD4e, maptool] LFP: One Needed, Saturday, 7 - 11 Central

I run a mostly regular D&D game set in Eberron. We try to play once per week on Saturdays from 7pm to 11pm or 12pm Central Time (GMT-6) which is the same as 10am to 2pm or 3pm Australian EST (GMT+10) Sunday morning. We recently lost a player and are looking to fill the void to bring the group...
