Prediction: 3.5 DMs will *always* find players

Before this thread gets locked down. That is interesting two stores are boycotting 4E, but to me it sounds more like their gamer ego getting in the way of their business sense. Shutting off a whole product line for a FLGS is not a good idea, especially THE gaming line, which 4E will likely...

Are Hitpoints an encouter based resource? Should the be one?

My experience is not so. I agree it is better to be fully healed, but asking to be killed. Not really, but YMMV.

Are Hitpoints an encouter based resource? Should the be one?

I do not really agree hit points are encounter based. Sure, a very cautious or rich party could perhaps keep them there, and with the touch of Healing and Draconic Shaman Auras keeping at 50% is pretty easy. But always healing all hit point damage after each encounter. That seems very...

How many Monsters from MMI have you used?

Two-thirds over about 25 years of gaming. If you only count during 3E then far far less Most of them have only been used once or twice though.

Do you want gnomes in the first phb?

I have never been a fan of gnomes.

    Pure speculation-multiclassing and magic

Good point. That is what I am reading also, the four main types will be stronger, not weaker like they have progressively gotten in 3.5. But on the other hand, multiclassed spellcasters are obviously trouble, and something needs to be done, and I am sure it will be.

    Back to the Dungeon

Dungeons are cool. Old places are cool. It is straightforward fantasy. I hope they keep that focus in 4E. It seems to me that if games do not focus on the adventuring part of fantasy, They seems to slip easily into rules-light games, which I am not a fan of at all. After all, it is very easy to...

Which campaign setting(s) should be supported?

I think the core rulebooks need a generic setting, and most of those on the list are not them. Not by a long shot. And FR and Eberron are not generic settings either. So keep Greyhawk around. A lot of people know it, it has lots of support though most of it is very old, and the RPGA keeps it...

Why do YOU want a new edition

A lot to quote, but such good points 1. Certainly. It is a pain, so many options, so much to remember ( and I ALWAYS forget something) I hate it, I really do. 2. Yeah, there are 4-5 common actions I always have to look up, and another 4-5 that are not worth the effort of remembering. Not fun...

Prediction: 3.5 DMs will *always* find players

I do agree this question has come up before, and undoubtably will when 5E comes aroun d But in this case I do agree we will have a lot of 3.5 players, both online and not for a very very long time. It has been out a long time and there are a ton of resources for it, both in print form, PDF form...

Playable character without magic items: possible ?

My answer would be depends on the level. Level 1-10 definitely, though after 7 or 8 it will get harder. If the character is in a well balanced party ( even a bit magic (spell-wise( heavy, it would be even better for buffs to be more available. Starting at level 11 and going up to 16 or so I...

Playable character without magic items: possible ?

I think talking about VOP is really not what the OP was asking, as VOP is intended to replace the normal set of magical bonuses a typical character would get form magical items. And for the record, no, I do not like VOP as it penalizes the rest of th party too harshly for one character's build...

    Disdain for new fantasy

WOW: I agree with the above poster, D&D should be primarily role-playing, but with lots of adventure, not an endless series of killings, and gathering stuff. Anime: I just have never liked Anime. The stories, the character attitudes, the way they use magic in thier worlds. It is just no D&D to...

    Whisper Gnome Rogue

I would also consider taking the majority of your levels as swordsage for combat abilities, and jsut taking enough rogue levels to top-up the cross-class skills from swordsage. Unless you really need the skill points, I have been getting away from going straight rogue as much as possible. And...
