I got a fever! And the only prescription... is more cowbell!

The Best of Christopher Walken SNL DVD is excellent. Not only does it have the cowbell, it has Colonel Angus. I was uninitiated in the cowbell until a friend of mine picked this one up, and I think I've watched it three more times since then -- it sticks in your head. ;)

What's on your GenCon watch list?

If you're going to this year's GenCon, what new products -- things premiering there (or at Origins) are you excited about? I've started thinking about my list, but it's not very long yet: - Book of Templates - Monte Cook's Iron Heroes - Shackled City campaign Added from this thread: - Mage...

Just Curious ... Hom many come from AD&D?

Started with red box D&D back in '87, got really into gaming with 2e in '89, switched to 3e when it came out. :)

How Has the Internet Changed the Way You Game?

Four things come to mind: - The online community aspect, like EN World - Having a campaign website (which I now can't imagine not having) - Finding ideas and inspiration for games - Learning about gaming products All of them very, very good things. :)

    Suggestions for a fluffy setting?

I played a session at last year's GenCon with Burning Wheel's creator, and two settings came up during table chatter: Midnight and Middle Earth. One of the other players (who'd had a lot of experience with BW) brought up Midnight, and Luke brought up Middle-Earth -- and agreed that both were a...

    Faerunian Warforged?

I don't really see what this adds to the thread. The OP wasn't looking for opinions on warforged, or on the "state of D&D" -- just ideas about how to work them into his game.

    Faerunian Warforged?

Lantanese inventions is the way I was headed with it, too. I don't think there necessarily needs to be a lot of history behind the race, though, just to give one PC some background hooks to work with.

Plot Hooks Necessary for Every Character?

I think it's pretty important, although not necessarily in the first couple of adventures. There are some other factors at work, though, which would be good to know about. How experienced is the player of the unconnected character? Experienced players will be able to make their own hooks as...

Goodman Games to Publish Print Edition of Book of Templates

That rocks on toast, with extra butter, in so many ways. :)

World's Largest Dungeon in actual play [Spoilers!]

Welcome to the boards. :) You posted this in the right place, and you can't find the search feature because it's only available to Community Supporters (pay a small fee, get access to search and other features). A common question. ;)

What do you wish was made into a game?

I believe there is a Firefly RPG previewing at this year's GenCon, although I wouldn't swear to it.

Top 10 Reasons Why I Think Dawning Star is Awesome

I can vouch for Justin being a pretty cool guy, as we exchanged several emails when I was considering picking up Poisoncraft: The Dark Art as a POD book. I wound up buying it, and it's a fantastic book -- something I would have loved to see partnered with a larger company, so that it could get...

How do you like your steak prepared?

Hooray for E/N! ;) I like my steak lean, with no bones or fat present, and cooked just to the point where there's no pink at all. I'm also quite happy with anything between "no pink" and "charcoal," because burny = tasty.

Goodman Games to Publish Print Edition of Book of Templates

That's what I'm hoping, too! I've heard so many good things about this one, but never picked it up because I knew I wouldn't use it as a PDF. Whether it comes out at GenCon or not, this is pretty sweet. :)

What are you going to buy next?

Next on the radar is Green Ronin's Advanced GM's Guide, followed by Five Nations and the Eberron DM's Screen, all of which I expect to rock. :) As for being behind, I've got a LOT of catching up to do: 2 Complete books, both environment books, all the Races books except for Eberron -- the list...

A plethora of gaming material: How do you find it and decide to buy it?

I browse release schedules (mainly the WotC one here, and Amazon), occasionally visit publishers' sites to see what they've got in the pipeline, and visit my FLGS 2-4 times a month. Keeping an eye on forum threads is also handy, as are the (relatively) new preview columns in Dragon. I used to...

    Gaming Bookshelves

Woooooooooow. I've got 11 5-shelf cases, and I thought that was a lot! Andre, that is damned impressive. :)

    Elven Flatulence

One thing's for sure: with their lifespans, elves have a looooooong time to perfect their mad farting skillz. Actually, that might be why elves and dwarves don't like each other: both are long-lived races, so there's a natural basis for competition there. ;)
