For those interested, Goodman Games has fired up the campaign for their second Judges Guild Deluxe book - and this time its Caverns of Thracia and Dark Tower (with other goodies thrown in). I made my save agains the first one (which was Tegel Manor, Thieves of Fortress Badabaskor, Citadel of...

    Your Favorite OSR System?

Currently, Old School Essentials. Very close to B/X, but better organize and with several of the rough spots smoothed out.

Best Way to Find New Players

I’ve had the best luck with meetup.com (Which has usually involved starting up a new “Roleplaying Gamers In {your city here}” group, promoting it in groups for other nearby towns, and then waiting a few weeks.

Besides D&D, what are you playing?

No D&D here. Champions, Justice Inc (6th ed Hero System), and Savage Worlds. Thinking about starting up another game, and a D&D retro-clone is under consideration, or maybe Fate - depends on which the group chooses.

    Best edition of Gamma world?

I think my personal favorite might actually not be Gamma World, but Mutant Future, which is a Gamma World inspired Labyrinth Lord derivative.

Worlds of Design: "Your Character Wouldn't Do That"

I’m in a fuzzy grey area here. I don’t think I’ve ever used that actual phrase, but I’ll flip the question around. I will not accept “it’s what my character would do” as an excuse for being a jerk or deliberately disrupting a game.

Anyone running a HERO System game on Discord or the like?

Hey, ever find a game? I’d love play something, but would probably be willing to run something as well (long time Hero fan - since ‘85 or so).

How do you get to GURPS?

Honestly, I rarely have a problem with getting people to play “complex” games. My preferred rules as a GM is Hero System, which is generally considered to be a complex system. The dirty little secret of a well designed complex system though is that most of the complexity tends to be front...

    Campaign Notes Software Suggestions

I use Evernote, but it’s not usefully free. It is, however, a great tool. All my notes organized and stored in the cloud so I can access them all from any of my devices.

How Many RPG Books Do You Own?

I’ve never counted, but I am in the process of moving right now so I’ve boxed up the majority of them. Fifteen banker boxes currently contain the bulk of them. (The exception being that I have not yet boxed up most of the Hero System and Call of Cthulhu books as those are the two games I’m...

    Would you invite this player?

The phrase “that's what my character would do" is such the red flag for me as, almost without fail, it has nothing to do with roleplay and everything to do with just being an excuse to be a jerk in the game. If that is honestly what your character would do, why is your character working these...
