D&D 5E Way of Approach for Lotus Eaters?

I want to built a encounter which would be similar to Homers Land of the Lotus eaters, meaning a area that is filled with a non-obvious Poison/narcotic that will effect the players. Making the simple "poison" as a incense is not the difficulty I have, with the simple condition of "poison". I am...

D&D 5E Shadow Step in dark dungeon - general purpose teleport or abuse of feature?

I use a monk that shadow steps...no problems until the DM started to put more Rune Traps in the area. Teleport without searching, Rune trap and some of those traps can be troublesome.

D&D 5E 12th Level monk with a speed of 50' had to use half her movement to stand up from prone!

funny thing about that. On a side note, the monk would be prone if knocked prone opposed to falling prone.

D&D 5E 12th Level monk with a speed of 50' had to use half her movement to stand up from prone!

OK, now for some Rules "Cheese". How about the Monk cannot "fall" prone, ever unless they do not have a reaction. Per rules: Fallings: ... At the end of a fall, a creature takes 1d6 bludgeoning damage for every 10 feet it fell, to a maximum of 20d6. The creature lands prone, unless it avoids...

D&D 5E 12th Level monk with a speed of 50' had to use half her movement to stand up from prone!

To make some amount of fairness, use half of the 30' speed or what ever the race base is. She would still have 35' movement opposed to 25'. Just think, it is better than 4E where it took your movement to stand.

D&D 5E What is the "role" in roleplaying

I would Choose the second choice, performing a role. The Player picks the role they want with the background, alignment, histories... each making the character "Role" unique. Role-play is used in the game to help set the adventure, advance plot and keep the players interested in the game...

D&D 5E I'm the DM and a player is trying to abuse the Immovable Rod. Advice?

TL;DR First: The Immovable Rod with the hammer head attached is not longer a immovable rod... any alteration to the rod damages it and make it a normal rod. Second: Attacks are not individual "actions". Meaning during your Main Action you are making a attack in which you might get multiple...
