For fantasy gaming, I really like Castles and Crusades. I gave away my 3e collection to a friend, and have not yet bought any 4e books.

You may as well do Gurps: Fantasy. And it's a great book, to boot.

Since you have no real preconceptions, you may as well get FR when it is published. Be warned that most of the current novels will just be distant history for the new setting. Eberron won't get the 4e treatment until next year.

2nd try (as I didn't read the entire OP, just the title of the poll). For Fantasy, I'd use B/X. For SF, Mongoose Traveller. For Modern Day, Witchcraft. For Horror, Call of Cthulhu.

This is kinda related to the black posts and fonts. Whenever I start a new thread or reply to a thread, teh reply box is black but so is the text, so I have to highlight just to see what I've written. When the post goes through, it is white and readab le. I use IE7.

Just curious if anyone has heard if WotC plans on publishing updated 4e books with errata included. They have had a very bad history with this before, but i'm hoping that has changed.

I really like this game. Go with the FASA/Redbrick books. The "2e" game was not as good, IMO. You can pick up a lot of FASA books on eBay dirt cheap. The setting is great, the classes and races are really cool, and it has the best magic item system in any game, ever.

I went with 5. There are some really cool ideas I've seen, but all in all, it's not something I'm going to rush out and buy the day it's released.

It's pretty generic, actually, by design. Make of it what you will.

All's I'm saying is that Kara Tur is not part of the Forgotten Realms.
