[two pages display] Yum ! Fluff !

The 3e original MM book was sparse. Personally I still find this lacking over something like Privateer Press's MM. Then again in the basic DD MM I want as many monsters as we can, so short fluff is a neccesary evil.

Do We Need A Bard Class?

Because with the 4e concept of class powers the Bard can be seperated from the wizard. Maybe music abilities can be everything for the class not just lower level spells. It seems in 4e the Bard will be a mix of the Warlock and Warlord. A song magic based leader. Have its own unique abilities...

    Dragon Editorial: Fearless

They do tend to be all over the story, the scene after the sword in the stone, when Thom talks how he might be the hero of the next generations version of the story. Raising Kings and having fire fly from his hand. Merillin --> Merlin.

    Dragon Editorial: Fearless

Yeah lets avoid going down the copying road. If you are well enough read of older books pretty much every idea in current media is somewhere from them. It just matters how much you know of the older versions. (Which of course lead to the funny concept of some of my students thinking Gandalf's...

    WotC_Rodney: Trap Fun!

I know this is a dead topic, but since its one of the designers I'll say my two cents. I agree names can add to building a story. However, the more story names are in the main rules the less open the rules are to diffrent stories. In this case tornado strike is fine. I think its silly but it...

D&D 4E Going/Not Going to 4E which edition did you start with?

Started with the red box. Moved to 1e, then 2e. My group stopped playing DD then returned when 3e came out. Just made more sense to us. I think our campaigns have been far better for it. However, I am switching between module campaigns (ie Pathfinder) and my own design set in Ptolus/Iron...

D&D 4E Why I like the 4ed Forgotten Realms (and 4ed in general, for that matter)

A lot of these problems built with the formation of 3e. I mean the nightmasks were a small group of assasians and thieves taken out by a fighter and paladin. Then they turned into vampire mages. City of Shade certainly boost the number. However, realms is a high magic setting so cold war states...

D&D 4E 4E's aggressive pace: Too much, too fast?

Between 4e and WOTC's general interactions with rpg materials the two FLGS near me are no longer carrying rpgs at all. Doing a sell out of the old and not competing with DI or edition changes. To be fair most of their buisness is cards, minis and comics. So they might have done it anyway.

D&D 4E Is it DMs or players that are more apprehensive about 4e.

As Dm maybe apprehension. It seems intresting but not enough to relearn how to run things again. I'll see the first few modules and DI applications before going too far with it. WOTC's great PR in previous months have gotten my players pretty anti-4e to the point they don't go to wizards or...

D&D 4E 4E's aggressive pace: Too much, too fast?

3.0 was finished on time and we needed 3.5 Now 3.5 needs to be changed to 4.0 (by and by has 3.5 really been out for 4 years? Just doesnt feel that long :) My guess is pretty fast we will see fixes come out on DI. We wont have a 4.5 they say, so it will be smaller fixes. Which to be honest is...

Your preference for how "fragile" 1st-level character should be

I tend to give max starting HP for first level. However, that’s still rather fragile. Usually after the first intro session they are leveled up to 2. Sort of a beginning what did I get myself into event. For most characters we assume if they are 1st level it’s their first real combat experience...

D&D 4E 4e Races and Classes: "Why we changed the gods"

Aren't they removing all those Gods in the FR book to make it more points of light?

    D&D 4E New "Confessions of a Full Time Wizard" - 4e tidbits!

Have to agree. My wife and a few friends do play 3.5. Since they dont love new rule systems they aren't intrested in 4e. However, between the book and these articles she might get convinced on 4e.

    D&D 4E New "Confessions of a Full Time Wizard" - 4e tidbits!

I agree that D&D needs new blood and the MMO market seems a good target. However, few things in the new rules have convinced me that the games rules are easier for someone new to anything but MMO. More speical rules and names may not lead to easier rules. Heck, my newest group members are the...

    D&D 4E New "Confessions of a Full Time Wizard" - 4e tidbits!

Doesnt the message board hit your will AC now? :) It's a choice for each group as now. With the DI it does seem the easiest way to keep balance. Ive tried both, my current players prefer rolling over point buy. Odd enough the newer players prefer rolling and the older could care less.
