D&D 5E MTOF: Elves are gender-swapping reincarnates and I am on board with it

Human's are the DUFF in D&D - the Designated, Ugly, Fat Friend. They let everyone else look good by comparison. Joking aside, I don't think the mechanical bonuses elves get in 5E make or break them. Further, the gender flipping thing is clearly an option - players and GM may use it if they...

    Spelljammer Mearls and Spelljammer challenge

They could go for a modular approach, offering options people could choose from in term of a home game.

    Spelljammer Mearls and Spelljammer challenge

In the astral plane the ships will still act like ships, enough so for naval combat and age of sail type adventures.

    Lilliputian and Brobdingnagian

I was thinking something like that - and it could be interesting if they had an item that boosted their strength to normal, human levels. It could be a bit like Ant-Man in the movies.

    Lilliputian and Brobdingnagian

So how would you make Lilliputians and Brobdingnagians into PC races? Is it possible to make them into PC races? Part of my thinking on this is how the recent D&D Beyond video observed larger-than-medium creatures can create mechanical issues. That said, I think reskinning the storm giants...

    Spelljammer Mearls and Spelljammer challenge

Pppbbbttt! I thought of it first and you can't prove otherwise. Joking aside there is nothing to stop us from doing our own Homebrew thing.

As a player: prefer Homebrew or Published settings?

I voted "other" because published settings always change in their implementation. They are only so proscriptive. And being changed as they are used actually at a table, they become more Homebrew than textual.

    Grand Unified Setting Theory

I am in the lobby of a mechanic while my car is being repaired. I am bored. So I am going to do something to amuse myself. I'm going to play a game linking different pieces of pop culture. You are invited to contribute. For example, the Primus of the plane of Mechanus is the same entity as the...

    Spelljammer Mearls and Spelljammer challenge

Thank you. I am working on adapting some of the settings from Gulliver's Travels. Just for the sake of novelty. No pun intended. But age of sail is the thing I'm going for.

Same here - the astral plane is basically hyperspace, allowing fast travel between distant points. There are gith, but other beasts as well.

    Spelljammer Mearls and Spelljammer challenge

That is... interesting. I am working on a home-brew version at the moment. Edit: I found the old setting - with crystal spheres, phlogiston, etc. - to be too complicated. I'm aiming at something simpler.

Right. Thanks. I missed that the first time. I guess it can be chalked to a mistake, like the steel predators.

D&D 5E My Review of Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes is Live will also answer any questions

I don't have a copy - and it may be a while before I get one - so I have to ask. How did Primus create the Slaadi (who are chaotic)?

D&D 5E My Review of Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes is Live will also answer any questions

Mostly I was joking. I would not want to see Earth race recreated. That would at best be pointless in terms of game mechanics (everyone has the same basic stats and bonuses) and at worst a terribly racist and sexist idea. But this is a fantasy game - there are possibilities. I would be...

D&D 5E My Review of Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes is Live will also answer any questions

This comment feels a bit meta, as the entire book works on the tacit assumption of us - the readers - taking the word of an archmage, Mordenkainen.

D&D 5E My Review of Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes is Live will also answer any questions

So, the book discusses elves, dwarves, gnomes, gith, and hundred of monsters. But does it discuss humans? I mean, so little has been established about them...

    Parasite Dimension?

The late and much missed writer Terry Pratchett wrote about "parasite dimensions." They are not the same thing as alternate timelines or simply a parallel universe. They are usually malevolent, and home to malevolent creatures. Inside the dimension, time does not function. Locals are vulnerable...

    Explosive math (second opinion welcome)

Yes. But you know as well as I do that if there is a possible way for a PC party to blow the entire game right the hell up, they will find it. And do it. Twice, if they can.
