    Dice Rolls

I've honestly never considered it... but trying to come up with some reasonable assumptions in my head brings me to maybe 800? I should absolutely win something if I get within 10%...

    What if races leveled up?

airwalkrr; yeah, this is kinda what I was going to say, and kind of what I did say before; I think that racial levelling might be a way to maintain racial distinctiveness over levels, so that racial traits have some sort of value after 5th level, to prevent them being lost in the white noise of...

    Campaign help.

With some extensive tweaking, the first level of Sunless Citadel would be a fun module to play, and possibly thematically appropriate, as the setting is an ancient temple to a powerful dragon. The kobolds have taken up residence in the temple because of its draconic heritage. In the campaign I...

    What if races leveled up?

point e) I found particularly frustrating. My fighter/rogue just wouldn't be up to the job

How do you progress spellcasting monsters?

@RUMBLETiGER; Definitely. I think its in the Monster Manual section for advancing monsters, but this I'm positive of. Mind you, I don't think there are many monsters (at least in MMI that this is appliccable to, perhaps just Nymph, some dragons and Driders). edit: MMI p294, under the heading...

How do you progress spellcasting monsters?

Thats the way I've always done it. I just got to wondering if there was a RAW way to advance spells as HD advance because it seems an oversight

Questions about a few locations in the world of Greyhawk

Someone was seeking information on Celene on the canonfire boards. Not sure if theres much useful information, but if you have more time than i do, check it out :) http://www.canonfire.com/cfhtml/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=5447 If you find anything at all in your searches, let me...

    What if races leveled up?

In my reckoning, race is genetically modified* so any racial advantage that they gain isn't choosable from a list but rather a particular single benefit that is gained at whatever level. This would also help to maintain the distinction between race and class. Regarding the motives of folk using...

How do you progress spellcasting monsters?

Out of interest, do rules exist for advancing spells as we advance monsters by HD? It seems logical to me that in advancing a Nymph, say, by HD that spell-level would also increase, but would it be equal to a level per HD? per two HD? or is this purely extrapolation?

    Succubus ability that is missing?

I've encountered this kind of thing with many monsters; they are often only loosely based on their respective mythologies; If you've found the trait you reckon it should have, I reckon go right ahead and make that change. In the back of the monster manual this is suggested as an option, and you...

    What if races leveled up?

On a side note, I really like the idea of the feat chains as replacements to prestige classes as well. I suspect that presitge classes only later came to replace older edition archetype kits. They seem originally a mechanic for story elements and campaign-specific organisations and such.

    What if races leveled up?

I'd change the caster level to bonuses to knowledge arcana and spellcraft, perhaps with an aditional bonus to checks related to enchantment. Non casters could definitely still benefit from this, while maintaining the flavour. Also, I personally like the racial bonus increases over levels...

    What if races leveled up?

This is an idea I've also played around with before. It's always seemed that the racial traits become insignificant very quickly in terms of level progression, and mechanically, there isn't much to distinguish the races before too long. One good way to adress power creep might be to design...

    Monsters, Magic items and CR?

If the monster were advanced or had character levels, this would be easier to answer, I think; in this case, if the value of the collar were within its listed equipment allowance, then it would not, as far as I can tell increase its CR RAW. If you've chosen to add the collar to the encounter...

    NPC names

I've fallen into this trap too many times, Omegaxicor! But meh, the inspiration I've found by the wayside could fill volumes!

    NPC names

I was confident in offering a unicorn as a plot token in a fill-in session the other month, but my gf still laughed at me! Just as a point of argument, for the sake of consideration, you can spend far too long trying to develop some sort of internal logical consistency with languages and such...

Pledge money and Colin McComb will say sorry for writing the Complete Book of Elves

I've had a quick squizz at that book, but I guess I'm an outsider :D What was wrong with it? Was it all this hate I've read about for the spelldancer?

Magic and culture in D&D Lore

I guess that might be the crux of an interesting issue. A system that by-the-rules absolutely forbids something a player would like to play may frequently result in frustration. On a certain level, a system that provides the tools for a GM to create their own mythology is likely to reflect the...

Magic and culture in D&D Lore

TBH, I like the way older editions handled this thing. It adds a mythology to the game which I enjoy. Though with the most stringent of the rules, though I'm a conservative player, I'd have a few of my better character concepts trumped right off the bat! I'm considering, when it comes time to...

Magic and culture in D&D Lore

Thats interesting, SkidAce; I've kind of assumed the same tendency for humans too; they are not inately magical, and show tendency to gain power through bargaining with fiends (the proper meaning of sorcery). Though humans are often wizards, Sorcery is the magic of humans in as much as...
