D&D 5E Stalker0's Minimalist Monk (aka the "minimal change" version)

For the Flurry of Blows, what if we changed the wording to "When you use your bonus action to make an unarmed strike, you can spend 1 ki point to make an additional unarmed strike as a part of the bonus action," or something like that?

D&D 5E Stalker0's Minimalist Monk (aka the "minimal change" version)

If we establish an increase in Unarmed Strikes at 11th level, what would we do about the Drunken Master's Intoxicated Frenzy? Also, what if—for the Way of the Four Elements Monk—we made the disciplines that uses Ki to cast spells like Burning Hands cost one less Ki point?

D&D 5E Need new eyes on my homebrewed Warlord (v4)

I also think playing a warlord would be easier if you used "you can use this feature a number of times equal to X + your (mod name) modifier" more, and the Battlefield Insight work in a manner similar to the Monk's Ki Pool. With my comment on the Battlefield Insight, from a personal standpoint I...

D&D 5E Best out of combat class features?

I don't know—I never read Tasha's. *Edit: I made the suggestion because @Mistwell 's post made me immediately think of the Artificer's Flash of Genius feature—which lets them use their reaction to add their Int. modifier to an ability check or saving throw that was made within 30 feet of...

D&D 5E Best out of combat class features?

Yeah, @Undrave , I also think that you may find some good inspiration in the Eberron: Rising from the Last War book's Artificer class features, if that helps any

D&D 5E Do you find alignment useful in any way?

Idk and I don't care if someone has already posted what Imma bouta say, because it already deserves multiple mentions: Enforcing alignments is one of the best ways to keep leashes on your paladins folks.

D&D 5E Best out of combat class features?

It's not a class feature, but I think Nets are a great out of combat tool. . .

    D&D 5E Blind Characters in 5e

Though this is true for most spells, there are spells like Chromatic Orb, that uses an attack roll on a creature you can see, And Earthquake, Storm of Vengeance*, and Meteor Swarm, which—for theses—has you choose one and four points (respectively) that you can see within range. Then there are...

    D&D 5E Blind Characters in 5e

Well, first I was just thinking how with the Unseen Attackers and Targets section in the PHB allows for characters to make weapon attacks as they guess the target's location, and I thought that spellcasters should be given the same kind of flexibility(?) in combat. Then—at least with the spells...

    D&D 5E Blind Characters in 5e

I know this is a bit past the "reply-by" date and what I'm about to say is a bit off topic. But I was wondering if you and those who read this would "allow" your table's spellcaster to cast any of the spells Flamestrike listed when they can't see or otherwise locate their target? I know RAW this...

D&D 5E Ruling Consideration on Darkness (both magical and non-magical)

I also wanted to add: in the Vision and Light (VL) of the PHB, magical darkness is described as a type of the third category of Illumination, darkness, which is described as creating "a heavily obscured area." This would mean that the spell, Darkness, also creates a heavily obscured area...

D&D 5E Ruling Consideration on Darkness (both magical and non-magical)

So, just so I'm understanding you correctly, are you saying that if Magical Darkness was interposed between a human and a torch that were 100-ft away, that the only thing the human would be able to see is whatever is in the illuminated area minus whatever is blocked by the silhouettes of the...

D&D 5E Ruling Consideration on Darkness (both magical and non-magical)

Before you read the entire post, let me establish my intent for starting this thread. I am saying all of this for me, so that I can get this off my mimic chest. You guys can ignore this if you want to; I don't care. So, recently I've been a little obsessed over figuring out what Dim Light would...

D&D 5E Improving the Four Elements Monk for an Airbender type PC?

Hey, just found this post, hope I'm not too late. For this I'm just going to be blunt and to the point. I looked at your link to the remastered 4E monk. I love its format and would highly advocate for its use. For Steel Wind Strike, I would move the "unlock level" (or just unlock) up to level...

D&D 5E Polearm Master and Monk

Thank you for letting me know, I'll try to not make this mistake again.

D&D 5E Polearm Master and Monk

Yeah, all the feat does for monks is AO when enemies enter reach and the possibility of using a magic polearm—if the player even gets one—for their bonus attack. And even then; unless it's like a +1 or whatever, even that is waisted by level 6 or so.

    D&D 5E Monk with Q-Staff -- why not?

Well, there is the part that said the Two-Handed property "is relevant only when you attack with the weapon, not when you simply hold it" So it would be confusing because it could be interpreted as an "either-or" situation in regard to hand number

    D&D 5E Monk with Q-Staff -- why not?

Nevermind, tbh the only benefit you get with Polearm master is the chance of using your weapon if it's magical and getting AOP when enemies enter your reach
