You can charge in a surprise round but you only move one times your speed. The part about charging as a move action was news to me though. I thought it was restricted to standard actions.
I'm not at all familiar with gaming conventions and or tournements etc. But I am curious about peoples experiences gaming with people of different nationalities. Kinda like a rpg exchange program. I'm kinda more thinking of private gaming groups.

Occult/Evil? I really know absolutely nothing about the occult so...
I play in one group, we meet once a week for between 4-6 hours. Every summer and Winter we have a weekend session at my cottage or house depending on the season.
Im my campaign's it's usually about areas of influence, on low levels their noteriety can raise in a fairly small area, but as they travel and get more powerfull they can become more well known all over in many different places... even gaining mythical status in their early stomping grounds if...
Go about making a character?
I'm pretty methodical and research extensively from almost every book. Usually only WotC stuff because anything from another source requires DM approval.
I agree with PrC... up to know but that has slowly begun to change.
Metamagic for sure I don't use, notable exception Quicken Spell when combined with Divine Metamagic from CD.
I don't use really any NPC creation stuff, usually go all from scratch...
I beleive now in 3.5 you can make certain types of dragon hide armour based on the size of the dragon you are taking the hide from.
I don't remember the sizes but for really big dragons you can make a suite of full plate dragon scale armour. which basically functions like non-magical full...
Last session...
Our Fighter was trying to convince our 'Dominated' wizard that surrendering all his magic items to the invisible bad guy was an
action, by jabbing him with hes spear and then surrounding him in a wall of fire... I guess the poor wizard never caught-on to the obviousness of it...
I find the white d20's that came with the starter sets of the new plastic minis only roll 1,2,3,18,19,20.
I guess it works out to average in the long run but they can be really deadly...
