Durin Broadaxe: Dwarven Cleric LVL 1 / Bard LVL X Durin was born into the Broadaxe clan, for which he still holds much pride. However, in the eyes of his clan, he did not follow the course of his destiny. He was to continue the work of his forefathers, who were all great clerics and champions...

    Playing cross-gender PCs

Do NPCs count :D I've never played a female character as a PC. Well, I haven't played a PC since maybe '93 (high school). Back when we used to alternate DM duty. Since then, I have been full time QB. Every once in a while one of my male players builds a female character though... Edit: Due to...

Gotcha. I also found the D&D "Fomorians" in MMII. Not quite Balor's kin, but I can see the similarities.

Let's not forget sugar. I know and I must apologize. The word maize is used only when speaking en espanol here in SoCal (Southern California). Corn, to me, is the vegetable. Unfortunately, I don't know how many times I have stumbled upon that word in text and now have probably mistaken it for...

Yes, that makes sense. Thanks. :o Well, even though they don't belong, I have a hard time not using such things in the game. No one questions it; however, I always catch myself after the fact and find it awkward.

The threads about the alien monks reminded me about a story I once read in a book of great Irish tales. In one of the stories the author made a reference to eating corn. Now, the story was written about the tales of Cuchulain and the heroes of auld. So, why/how were they eating corn? I was...

How do you describe your combat?

I try to be as descriptive as possible, but in the end it always reverts back to "Ok,you hit." One of my players really enjoys describing how his monk kicks butt. So, I just let him have fun and try to keep up (without taking away from the other players of course).:) I find it very exciting...

The reason for the cleric class' lack of popularity?

I will have to check those out. Thanks:)

The reason for the cleric class' lack of popularity?

A good reason for the absence of clerics in the original fantasy literature was probably because it was too taboo. Wizards are enough, but try to introduce readers (at the time) to worshipers of fictitious gods, who grant them spells! D&D had a rough start in the beginning for that same reason...

    Paladin.. monk?

R.A. Salvatore wrote about a monk in his novels. Danica was her name I think. He did quite a good job fitting her in and she was a primary character that did not appear to be foreign. I dunno, I have a monk in my group, but he is from our "Asia" equivalent. It was his choice; I would've...

    The Drinking Game.

My group likes to play a drinking game. Here are the rules in AD&D: You begin with your CON score. If you roll over your CON you get a –2* For every 3 drinks you get a –1 *If you roll over your CON by 4 or more, you’re done (KO) A role of 20 is automatic KO A 1 gives you a +1 CON Last...
