So I have a four person D&D group, and we use minis regularly. Two of the PCs are currently represented by minis which don't look much like they do, and I'm wondering if the collective brain of ENworld can help me track down more appropriate minis for them. Prepainted minis like Mage Knight or...
It sounds like metagaming antagonism towards the PCs. "Ha! I'll get them by violating expectations and tricking them! That'll show them not to trust my GMing!"
I can't see why I'd want to do that. It was stupid and mean to have those cursed items in 1e, and I can't see a reason to mislead PCs...
Well, David is the name of a hero with semi-magical abilities in Jewish myth, so the name isn't too terribly unrelated. It's probably no worse than naming him Hercules, Roland, or Gilgamesh.
That said, it does seem a little odd because it's also a name in current use. Similarly, I had a friend...
It's a huge, important permanent part of the character that impacts survival directly. I expect there's also a lot of cheating (in some quarters) on stats. I'd bet that some people who would never cheat on a roll in game would cheat on stats because it's so permanent.
Hit Points are even worse...
You are correct. I typed the wrong number. I used 1/3, round down, for:
1 for d4
2 for d6 & d8
3 for d10
4 for d12
I think. Could be wrong--it's been a while.
I've only played it once, though I did enjoy it quite a bit. I've been planning to bop down to the Toy store and look at that and McFarlane's dragons to see if they'd make for cheap minis. Scale is different than DDM, though.
One thing I'll note was in the game I played it was just a big...
One thing I've done in the past was allow rerolls if the first roll came up at 1/4 or less of maximum HPs. So a 4 or lower for barbarians, only on a 1 for wizards. Maybe I should have included "some rerolling allowed" as a poll option.
Thanks!
I've started a new game, and I'm disatisfied with rolling HPs, mainly because it sucks to roll low and it can drastically alter game balance. I'm interested to know how others handle it. If your favorite option isn't represented in the poll, please post about it in more detail.
Thanks!

That's about the only one I'd be sure to buy. Big dragons would be nice, it's true, but the paint jobs are not always great, and big demons and dragons are the minis I most want to paint metal ones for (other than PCs). Also, I suspect toy store dragons will have better prices for about the same...
IIRC, OotBI is the only way to avoid AoO with a ranged weapon without slowly backing up each round. IME, monsters get to the party fast and the archer can't hide behind a row of pikemen, he has to avoid those AoOs. So OotBI might be damn near requisite. What I'd really like to see is that...
Rogue, rogue, he's big, he's heavy, he's wood;
Rogue, roge, he's better than bad, he's good!
(We also found monks a good substitute. After a while they're immune to poison and falling, have SR, evasion, and good saves. Traps don't bug 'em none.)
I'm not packing my bags for Pasadena yet, but the Badgers are looking okay. If they can get their secondary in shape for Purdue and Michigan State, it might be an okay year after all. We don't play Ohio State this year, but I'm actually most afraid of Purdue, since they play neither Michigan nor...
Perhaps the best option is to allow a total rebuild. I say best not in the sense of fairest, but in the sense of causing the least trouble while making players happiest. For fairness, you should allow changes only to those things the players would not have picked had they been under 3.5 at the...
It's funny you use this example, since generally reality shows don't get ratings as good as traditional scripted shows. They are, however, much cheaper to produce, so even with fewer viewers the network still makes more money. Ergo, they proliferate.
Oops ... I see you've said reality game...
So what's so great about the computer hacking and interrogation systems? Is it GM advice, or a specific "hacking" skill you roll differently than normal skills, or what?
Do the hacking rules eliminate the very annoying "netrunner/decker is always separate from the party" problem?
Thanks!

That's pretty much the rule in American culture. It's different on the internet. As others have noted, not being able to see others takes away some self-restraint, as well. The two combine for a fairly low signal-to-noise ratio among the flames.
FWIW, I kinda wish it were acceptable to discuss...
I went through a lot of names before I settled on Chiaroscuro, though I've been using it since 96. It's the name I use at RPGnet, and I think I at Malhavoc's boards. There's obviously another one here, though. Hell, it may be that I registered it and then forgot, thereby preempting my own name...
The object of lust definitely needs to play a role in the game. I would not include rape as a part of my game unless I knew players were comfortable with it, though. If the cleric captured her soul, perhaps the Cthulhu larva didn't steal it yet, but the cleric has it/still trying to talk her...
I can't get to RPGnet, either. It's been lagging a lot recently, and was in-and-out yesterday, though by afternoon it was just plain out. Has remained so all day today, as well.
