    Darkness/Deeper Darkness & Ghosts?

This seems a little weird. I've got an encounter with a bunch of ghosts, including one who was a cleric and can cast deeper darkness. Ghosts have darkvision but I just discovered to my chagrin that it doesn't apply to darkness spells. So the ghosts would have a 20% miss chance?!? Seems a little...

    Hallow & Dispel Magic?

Dispel Magic is listed as one of the spells Hallow can make permanent for one year. How would this work? Is there a check made against every magical effect that enters the area? Or one per character? What is someone leaves and comes back in?

    Mass Arrow Fire in CW

I just read the rules for mass arrow fire in the Complete Warrior. They are a little odd, but quite usable and very easy/efficient (it gets odd if you have a 20th-lvl commander and a bunch of 1st-lvl commoners...). But my question is this: shouldn't there be an option to cover a smaller area...

Why don't your players like psionics?

    Too sci-fi for us.

    Fortress construction

I think part of the problem is that people are trying to find logistical ways to solve this problem. "Realistically", I think you're wasting your time. Just say the lich uses magic to feed everyone b/c otherwise you're spending a heck of a lot of time figuring out the minutia (sp?) of how the...

    Making D&D combats deadly!

Interesting, but WAY too complicated and will dramatically slow down combat. You need to calculate how much a character hit/missed by, something sure to slow things down. Personally, I prefer a crit system that is a base chance when something else happens (say, roll % when a 1 is rolled). With...

    Understanding Aerial Combat

The other one: "Dragonlance Campaign Setting", pp. 242-250. It has rules for normal scale and for "chase" scale which is used when long distances are being covered. At first the rules seem complicated, but once you run through them they're very intuitive.

Running a group with 7 players?

Learn to delegate tasks. When a player finishes his/her turn and a question comes up about the rules, I ask that player to look it up for me. Saves me time and the player learns something.

    Player Survey

I've considered this in the past but the problem is that there is very little reliability in a survey with a sample of only, say, 4-6 people. The danger is that you may use the survey results in future situations with other players. It's probably ok if you only use the results for your own...

    Disruptive Player Issues

If you don't have anything go wrong with his actions, then he'll just continue to do it. Next time have him be seen or get caught. Better yet, let the other players (who don't have anything else to do) play the enemy security forces. Once the player in question sees he's got everyone stacked...

    WotC Miniatures Storage?

My main concern is long-term effects of storage b/c I can see the plastic bending after a while. Sure it's easy to bend them back, but that's a hassle if you have hundreds of minis. Actually, I'm quite shocked WotC hasn't developed some kind of storage case. Seems like a no-brainer...

    Gargantuan/Colossal Miniatures?

I'm not looking for them, I was just wondering how far they plan to take the minis line (and how they would package something that big!).

Spiritual Weapon: how much can it see?

Well, first of all, let's compare apples to apples. Faerie Fire may be a 1st-lvl spell, but it's also a DRUID spell - and many parties (if not most) don't have a druid in them. Glitterdust is 2nd-lvl and arcane. Same with See Invisibility. The rules may not say a 1st-lvl spell can be used to...

    Fortress construction

I'm assuming most of those "few hundred thousand soldiers" will be undead right? If not, they soon will be. I'd suggest hollowing out the mountain and stockpiling them in there. Another thing to consider, with that many undead around disease and plague will be a real problem - so have some...

    101 D&D Miniatures for Easter

Man, I'm addicted to Ebay. In the past two weeks, I've bought 300+ minis. Funny thing is, there's probably no more than 30 different types of minis. I just love having piles of hobgoblins, elves, etc.
