Meaning, a spectrum. My personal approach as DM has been 3.9: let the dice rule, but I as the DM will fudge things a bit on very rare occasions, if it serves the greater enjoyment of the table - but never letting the players know. This is usually pretty minor, like: Big bad monster has 47 HP...

I fail to see how this is a "hit piece." A hit on who? It seems pretty balanced: some view it this way, some view it that way, most don't care either way.

Nice cover, solid inside but it feels pretty fluffy...like it should have been a series of web pages rather than a book. The text doesn't draw me in, but the big killer is the lack of maps - very disappointing and kind of head-scratching, honestly.

As far as I can tell, so far WotC has announced four books and a box set for 2025: the Monster Manual, Dragons Anthology, two Forgotten Realms books, and the new starter set. But have they mentioned a story arc? Presumably there's something in the works, as they've published at least one story...

Out of curiosity, does anyone know the ratio of alt to standard covers, in terms of how many are printed?

I appreciate the spirit behind it, but the process is confusing and probably won't yield the results you hope for. I would suggest something like asking people to list their 10 TSR/WotC D&D products of all time, then compiling them in one ranked list.
