D&D (2024) Is there a story arc book next year?

As far as I can tell, so far WotC has announced four books and a box set for 2025: the Monster Manual, Dragons Anthology, two Forgotten Realms books, and the new starter set. But have they mentioned a story arc? Presumably there's something in the works, as they've published at least one story arc book every year going back to 2014. Did I miss something or have they not announced it yet?

No, you didn't miss anything.

In terms of the release window where they would normally slot the big plot Campaign book...that's when the Starter Set comes out. So I reckon the 3 module booklet adaptation of Keep on the Borderlands is falling under that rubric. Or alternatively, I would expect a small FR campaign in the DM's Guide to FR.

I think the next big none anthology adventure simply got bumped to 2026 when the FR book got split into 2 and expanded.

Wasn't there supposed to be a Red Wizards adventure coming in 2025?
They hinted last year that there were two story thing scoring sometime after the core books:

  • A storyline involving Venger
  • Something with the Red Wizards

Given how eager they were to mention the Red Wizards in relation to the Forgotten Realms books, I think that is what they were referring to. I wouldn't be surprised if the DM guide for FR has a mini-campaign against the Red Wizards.

And I would not be surprised if Venger ends up being the BBEG behind the Caves of Chaos in the Starter Set. That would make sense of why Venger seems so prominent on the DMG, the book kids would be referred to after the Starter Set.

Between this bit, the Thay product involving Ed Greenwood, and the heavy focus on githyanki in BG 3... if one of the upcoming story arcs doesn't involve this tidbit, I would be surprised.

Hard to knownwhat is a preview of coming attractions, and what is just a cool hook for DMs to run with: but Tyranny of Dragons was based on 20+ year old random hook, so anything is possible.
