D&D (2024) So what happened to the new and classic campaign settings? (and what's next?)

Oh, I thought Deck came out last year - but you're right, it was in February. Did it get pushed back? So it looks like five this year, four last.

D&D (2024) So what happened to the new and classic campaign settings? (and what's next?)

OK, makes sense - thanks. I knew Greyhawk was in the 50th anniversary, but didn't know it was getting a full chapter gazetteer. I can see why people are saying "odd choice."

D&D (2024) So what happened to the new and classic campaign settings? (and what's next?)

Weren't there somewhat solid rumors about WotC re-issuing a classic setting this year, to go along with the 50th anniversary? With the lead candidate being a true Forgotten Realms campaign book? And what about the new settings they were talking about a couple years ago? And while we're at it...

D&D General Greyhawk to Faerun and Beyond: A Multiversal D&D Lore Book Is Coming This Fall

Holy crap, this is a product that I've been hoping/asking for, for something like 10+ years. My most honest response:

You can still find them for MSRP.

    D&D (2024) New D&D Edition's Player’s Handbook Alternate Art Cover Reveal

Thanks. I've only checked it a few times, but it looks like Amazon is going to be discounting the pre-order a lot less...I imagine it will go down significantly, but as of this writing, Eve of Ruin is only 6% off and it releases in two days.

    D&D (2024) New D&D Edition's Player’s Handbook Alternate Art Cover Reveal

This has probably been discussed in the thread or elsewhere, but the MSRP says $49.95 on the back cover. I thought they were increasing to $60 (Or $59.95)?

    D&D (2024) New D&D Edition's Player’s Handbook Alternate Art Cover Reveal

The latter. I'm a teacher so while I do prefer supporting my LGS, saving $20+ via the evil corporate overlord is often hard to ignore. On the other hand, I don't buy many D&D books these days, so I'm probably going to buy the alternate at a local game store. (We also have a regional chain...

D&D 5E Convince me that the Ranger is a necessary Class.

A lot of D&D discussions seem to come down to: Q: Why does X exist within the D&D toolbox? A: Because the toolbox is vast and varied, giving players a wide number of options and allowing different groups to customize to their liking. Q: But why doesn't the toolbox only include tools that I want...

D&D General Less is More: Why You Can't Get What You Want in D&D

I dunno, I think a lot of folks in their 40s remember him, having watched Cosmos re-runs as kids. Nice quote, btw.

D&D General Less is More: Why You Can't Get What You Want in D&D

I'm just here to speculate on what the age is that above it, more than half know who this is and below it, less than half. My guess would be 37. Or 41. Something like that.

What are you reading in 2024?

Just finished Robert Silverberg's Downward to the Earth - was hooked immediately, then paused for a week or two, then re-upped and found it to be one of those rare books that got better and better and, by the end, probably ranks in my top 20 all-time for sf. Now reading Tanith Lee's Electric...

D&D General What Are Adventurers In Your World?

I used to teach at a private high school in which, as a private school, most of the kids came from wealthy families. To such folk, there was a common third post-secondary option beyond "enter the work-force" and "go to college" - taking a gap year. Some would take gap years. I see adventurers...

D&D (2024) How excited are you for the new 2024 edition d&d?

To be honest, sort of surprised at how meh the forum is in total. As of this writing, the average rating is 2.6, which is pretty much the definition of "meh." Not sure if we're just old, jaded, or turned off by WotC. Or some combination of all of the above and more. Even I voted above that (3)...

D&D (2024) How excited are you for the new 2024 edition d&d?

I voted 3. I'm semi-retired from playing, but still curious about the new edition, but not chomping at the bit to have it on the day it is released. I'll probably pick up the core books, though, just for fun.
