    D&D (2024) The sorcerer shouldn't exist

For me a Ranger is a smart warrior, that learn to operate in hostile environment and fight dirty. Not a guy who use two weapon. A warlord is a title for a character that have his personal army. The character who heal his friend and move them around the battle grid is a mechanical feature.

    D&D (2024) The sorcerer shouldn't exist

I see three concepts: the hard worker scholar. wizard. The gifted free spirit, sorcerer The opportunist (if not cheater) that rely on external help. Warlock. One class, three classes, or a set of subclass, I don’t really mind. Just allow the three concepts.

    D&D 5E Intelligence Ratings

Adv DnD monster manual INTELLIGENCE indicates the basic equivalent of human "IQ." Certain monsters are instinctively, or otherwise, cunning, and such is accordingly noted in the body of the descriptive material. The ratings correspond roughly to the following character intelligence scores: 0...

D&D General There seems to be three types of classes in DND.

In the latest playtest they present Four class "Groups": Warrior, Mage, Priest, and Expert. I don’t know if it’s going to be official any day. But you can build subclasses based on these groups to allow a range of style.

You've Created A Bad Character. How, why and whose fault is it?

Once I make a character runaway and never come back, the DM made an encounter to test the morale of the party, and I use this occasion to retired my character. Another unfun character turn into an outlaw. But the campaign end before it get worse. For what I see around, most unfun character are...

You've Created A Bad Character. How, why and whose fault is it?

Another question is how long you play an unfun character before leaving him or asking to change him.

D&D General No Humans? (Well, the players... but that's it.)

I don’t see problem, But I guess that one race will eventually become the new human reference and serve to play human expectation.

How Visible To players Should The Rules Be?

To go back to the OP, The rules should be clear to the players, and even the idea that the DM assign DC, may fudge, may improvise, may alter the plot he previously create. Players should be aware of that. But the players should also know that only them can choose to play along with the fantasy...

How Visible To players Should The Rules Be?

In professional sports victory is made of fraction of seconds, and thus athlete and trainers have an eye for small details. +10%! both characters and everyone around with some skill in fighting should see that obvious difference.

D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

I call this the Matrix effect. At first Rules were created to emulate Fantasy. Then Rules create their own Fantasy. Ultimately Rules will replace reality!

D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

Don’t bother with the phb rules when you populate your home brew world!

Social Encounters: Does it Matter What and How PCs Speak to NPCs?

what are your players expectation? You if they want to play character inspired by Deadpool and have fun and joking, you won’t be able to tame them and make them walk between the lines. Otherwise in DnD for example, DM is never compelled to make a roll. He can decide the reaction of an NPC base...

    Piracy And Other Malfeasance

My rule of thumb is that we can used freely the tone we saw in TV shows. For piracy we got a range from One piece to Shogun ( the main character can be seen as a pirate…. ). So for now I get enough space to play.
