Maybe WotC D&D will be the gateway drug for new players, who will then experiment and try different versions and systems. Hasboro (well...Magic The Gathering, really) has the money to advertise, push out content, etc. Let's all hope for the best.

I have been playing CoC since 1983. I find the newer materials to be painfully verbose, so I had to laugh at the reviewers quip about modern CoC showing NPC motivations! So. Many. Words. To each their own, I suppose.

Dungeons&Dragons as a game is important to me, in all of its editions. Dungeons&Dragons as a brand, not so much. So I will always love the game, but the brand--and its ownership--not so much.
