D&D 5E (2014) Why do Armblades need Attunement?

Well, depends on the dagger. If it has a cross guard of some size and a blade length of 10", then it gets a bit complicated. I would require a sleight of hand check for this. I would allow a player though who declares he hides a dagger (with feasible dimensions) in his boot. I do it that way...

D&D 5E (2014) Reliable Talent and Disadvantage - order of precedence?

Except the "Whenever" as a preamble makes it totally clear even for me as a non native speaker that a as in any is the meaning.

Your post has a weird distracting thread derailing spin on it .... :P

D&D 5E (2014) Reliable Talent and Disadvantage - order of precedence?

That is your (wrong) interpretation, a (as in any) is the only thing that makes sense here.

    D&D 5E (2014) Long Rest is a Problem

well, your thoughts in the end requires at least one character to be some class capable of magical healing. But what if that one is not available for some reason?

D&D General Name a great dungeon room, trap, encounter, or puzzle from a published adventure (any edition)

the corridors with stone faces of castle greyhawk, all of them gave you a + on an attribute on interaction, except one which was exceptionally ugly and gave you its look instead with a -2 on charisma

D&D 5E (2014) Choose your preferred Polearam Master

If they would do rapier proper (simulationist) it even would get reach, but you would eventually also need a buckler, main gauche or cloak in your offhand, because it is to heavy to parry proper. (A 15th - 16th century rapier is about as long as a bastard sword and weighs the same also IRL)

D&D 5E (2014) Choose your preferred Polearam Master

A Glaive is very similar to a Naginata which definetely is a monk weapon for me.

D&D 5E (2014) Choose your preferred Polearam Master

I would not allow pam to work with shield, no matter what sage advice or whoever blurts about it. Duelling that's ok with me, but the uber blast my make belief is pam quarterstaff one handed with shield. That is so wrong on so many levels, making a mediocre peasant weapon one of the most...

D&D 5E (2014) player knowlege vs character knowlege (spoiler)

actually from the late middle ages onward which is the best equivalent to FRs tech level, people did a lot of stunning things already. if you can build a pocket watch (1400) a bicycle is piece of cake, yes it would not have rubber tires. In ancient Rome they had hydraulic ballistas, with a...

D&D 5E (2014) player knowlege vs character knowlege (spoiler)

difficult case here, one thing is you got a player who cares about (official) setting lore (which is a nice thing if the dm is using that lore) and who seems to have stats and skills to verify that mechanically. otoh you spoiled something for the group by simply blurting your maybe ic...

D&D General Do you care how about "PC balance"?

i do not care the least, but some of my players do, so i take care to equalize things a bit (think magic items) if needed

D&D 5E (2024) (+) New Edition Changes for Inclusivity (discuss possibilities)

For me as a non native speaker when I first heard the term (without having read it before) I thought of something totally different (think something dirty that really sounds alike) and wondered why they would talk such nonsense on MTV while keeping their face totally serious. I never understood...

D&D 5E (2024) (+) New Edition Changes for Inclusivity (discuss possibilities)

O rly? While I might like a game with characters resembling those of LotR, you paint us older guys a bit singleminded. Get the life experience of someone over 50, then you would realize the (absolutely wrong) stereotyping of your rant. I bet out of all characters I played in TTRPGs about 10%...

D&D 5E (2014) How would you wish WOTC to do Dark Sun

Well the cannibal halflings are one of the signature DS elements, but if they could form a kingdom? Questionable, it is rather several jungle tribes.

D&D 5E (2014) How would you wish WOTC to do Dark Sun

Nope, definitely not. It is best IRL compared to some of the Roman or Japanese emperors, which (besides a polytheistic pantheon of "real" gods) were revered as living gods. Think that minus the pantheon, plus some elemental priests and some druids worshipping nature (aka cosmos) and you have the...
