D&D 5E (2014) Who is best in damage output Barbarians? Monks?

with sharpshooter on colossus slayer and hunters mark you dish out a few. but that requires you to have advantage or bless so that you actually hit with ss. and folks do not discuss me on that i play a ranger now since some time and that is my experience. Ss always on means your dm does worse...

D&D 5E (2014) In an adventure called Dragon Heist I want only two things...

well don't judge a book by its cover they say... i would have difficulties to run it, since silver is my standard currency in high medieval campaigns (did not read it, but upthread some 1 wrote about gold coins)

D&D 5E (2014) Suggestion spell, AKA: the importance of session zero(ish) discussions with your DM

wow so far no one noticed, but for the sake of this discussion let us assume it was mass suggestion instead

D&D General How long does a body take to decompose in a bag of holding? (Asking for a friend...)

you should, this was one of the most hilarious scenes, the acid they used was far to strong, so it dissolved the bottom of the bathtub and the floor underneath and the corpse soup came down through the ceiling, in front of the guy who just wanted to inspect his eventual new mansion 😸

D&D 5E (2014) Suggestion spell, AKA: the importance of session zero(ish) discussions with your DM

i am on your side in this one. You chose an enchantment to resolve a potential conflict peacefully. Forcing you to give up all your items could not really have been the cultists task, but even if, it was equally reasonable to avoid death by you opposing them and making up a story about it back...

D&D General How long does a body take to decompose in a bag of holding? (Asking for a friend...)

did you by chance see the Breaking Bad episode where they tried to get rid of a body by dissolving it with strong acid in the bathtub upstairs while the potential new homeowner came in on floor level to inspect the house?

D&D General How long does a body take to decompose in a bag of holding? (Asking for a friend...)

no, no that is far to easy: let us introduce a portable hole, an immovable object, a devouring carpet, a dimensional anchor and a cubic gate to this hypothetical problem. i insist you do not let the kobolds corpse desecrations unpunished :p

D&D General The child stealing food to survive scenario, for alignment

Nope it isn't. I know the "concerns to short" is probably wrong phrasing, I hope you did get the meaning anyway, and that I did not write something insulting by mistake. What I wanted to express, is that the nat. 1 ruling could also have disadvantages for other party members, even if it applies...

D&D General An Appreciation of David "Zeb" Cook

He is big part of the Eye of the beholder CRPG Series (at least part ?1? but 2 definitely), which brought me into the hobby, specifically the AD&D part of it, and an awesome writer. He really deserves appreciation!

I use these mostly for comic relief, but your concerns are a bit to short when you think the fighter or monk is the most likely victim of that rule: Think about this hypothetical situation: DM: "Kane roll for attack. " Kane rolls a nat. 1. DM :"Kane roll for damage." Kane (rolls 1d12):"12, why...

D&D General D&D Settings with No Problematic Areas?

Wow I did not know that I am not offended by any fiction content or words, or even if there are parallels to RL, as long as it does not try to sell some agenda but is a pure intellectual challenge, it can get along with any sort of politically incorrect, offending etc. But that is just me. I...

And next you say that you got a cleric with your party and some diamond dust, so it does not matter if the kid gets killed, you could raise it from the dead afterwards.... You can agree on your table that you could splat a fly on the kids forehead with your thrown warhammer without scratching...

D&D General D&D Settings with No Problematic Areas?

DS has counter slavery AND restore ecology, the second main topic makes me actually wonder why they did not release anything yet with all the protect the environment topics in the news. Must be the unresolved psionics/halfgiants/inferior equipment, but wait there is something else with darksun...

cannot shorten bec phone post: on deus ex machina also use it only when really fitting but this is such a situation. I also believe irl you best can convince grown up people by example. The folk would see that the law needs to be refined by the pallys action. Every body is happy and St.Launcelot...

D&D General The child stealing food to survive scenario, for alignment

If that's what the PC does you should instead award him an inspiration point for extraordinary roleplay and move the game ff three months (if you got a in-game schedule hampered by that then wing it, you are the GM!) I could give you a like for all the other things in your post except that last...

I do not understand what part of the post of @Flamestrike implores some extraordinary knowledge he could only have, if he were said player or DM? Unless the actual Player and DM are psychos IRL there POV should be exactly what @Flamestrike describes. And unless in game the Dwarf is a psycho...

D&D General The child stealing food to survive scenario, for alignment

Yes but many people only suppressed their worst guesses on what would happen with the deported people, and several really did not know. And if they did they could not do much on it, to lean up would have been suicidal. You see, back then you did not have modern means of information and the few...

Yea, you would wish. And I hope most really are. But empathy goes only so far, if your empathy is demanding responsibility, expenses and effort on your side, e.g. care for someone or pay for someone poor then the empathy is gone pretty fast. The stakes for the first degree things of...

D&D General The child stealing food to survive scenario, for alignment

Exactly, but it goes deeper than this. Your goods e.g. textiles made by quasi slave labor are an example: As a buyer of those goods you could say I try to alter the only thing I can, because I cannot topple the system allowing that I boycott these goods and do not buy them. But think about that...
